Does anyone know for sure if the cars in the brochures are actual individual cars, or if they are one or two cars that are manipulated to show the car in the available colours?

Sorry, that is a very clumsy question, but hopefully you know what I am trying to say.

I was looking at the Brian Long book over the weekend and noticed that there were many 02+ NSX displayed in the Japanese brochures that are reproduced in that book. Many of the cars displaying the colour choices purport to be Type S models, but I have never seen pictures of 02+ Type S (or indeed any variants at all) in some of the colours displayed in the brochure. Just got me thinking as to whether they actually exist at all or are just coloured for the brochure.......

Would it be normal practice for a manufacturer to make an example in all the colour choices just for the brochure photo session? I suppose that these cars would become demonstrators? Anyone know if their car was a demonstrator / press car (except P27) ??

What you are forgetting from previous posts is that for the JDM there was the custom programme that enabled buyers of the NSX the choice of a wide variety of colours \ options \ trim levels. I dont beleive this was offered outside of Japan.

I don't have that book, but what colors are the 02 Type-S you seen in the book?

I don't have that book, but what colors are the 02 Type-S you seen in the book?

Page 202 of the book, page 33 of the 02+ brochure, looks like there are Type-S in Sebring Silver, Monte Carlo Blue, and Silverstone Metallic (standard colours), plus on the next page in the premium colour section, New Imola Orange Pearl and Lime Green Metallic. Then there is the custom order body colour section, which shows a blue car (with blue roof) in a shade that to me is neither Monte Carlo or Long Beach.......

Mmmm, MCB on an NSX!!!

That other blue could be the same as Ian's (Why One), maybe? Forget what his is called, but it's a decent blue...

Could it be Circuit Blue?

No problem Nick.

As mentioned above, a member has one in Circuit Blue and that's a photo of the actual car.

I'm pretty sure that when I do take the plunge, it will probably be for a late-as-possible JDM car, as the numbers of RHD 3.2l cars are slightly larger in Japan than the UK, and have a greater choice of specs and colours. I really want a Type S, but the way prices are going, that may be a dream too far.....
I'll probably still be procrastinating when the New NSX comes out....

For the clarification, there were 8 standard colours available for 02+ NSX in Japan.
Addition to these, there were 5 Premium colours available as the custom order plan for 02+ models and the blue NSX in the JDM brochure was the Long Beach Blue Pearl, part of the custom order.

The Circuit Blue Pearl was available as the standard colour from 97 for a while but not for the 02+ in Japan.

I can’t comment on the definite answer regarding the model used in the brochure for IP reason but I heard that some of them would be the true models for the factory assembly line test purpose, colour evaluation purpose for the design studio and etc.

Y1 is Circuit Blue.

It is a pearlescent colour but very difficult to photograph accurately.

Here is a picture of Havoc stalking Y1!

LoL (as if I'd do that...) - thankfully though that's not actually me!
