I need to sort out a renewal policy so I have tried some of the recommendations posted previously.

The best I can find is a standard policy at ~£1000 from a firm recommended by Darren. This is still cheaper than my old S2 policy :D but wanted to know of any specialist underwriters that also throw in track-day cover for when I brave taking the NSX onto a track. Or is this easy enough to sort out if and when needed?

On a (slightly) related note, I have just had to change a set of rear tyres which have lasted only 5000 miles. Is this wear-rate something I can come to expect unless I fit a sponge to the sole of my right foot?

I also asked the tyre fitters whether worn tyres are worth keeping for track days but they reckoned that may be dangerous. As a novice at such things I wanted to poll the views of those in the know (rather than the views of a tyre salesman).

Thanks in advance
Chris.

Hi, Try Aon, they throw in 5 trackdays in with their cover.

Worn tyres on th rear of an NSX could spell a big off on track unless your are a drift meister or go somewhere 'safe' such as Bedford Autodrome where you can learn how to handle a squirming rear end

Try

http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/

It will search the internet for quotes based on the information that you provide - when I did it I got about 20 quotes from £360 to £1500!

This is general car insurance though (Norwich Union, Royal Sun Alliance et al), so don't know about track days.

hope this helps

Depends whats fitted, if its the OEM Yoko A022s, then yep. 5000 is about what I got.

Currently have Goodyear Eagle F1s and they seem to be wearing a little easier.

Not sure how much difference your right foot can make, its running so much toe-in I think they wear out even when its stood still.

Mine was arranged through confused.com who came back with a very nice quote from a company called masterquote, underwritten by Lloyds.

Most of the details are still wrong though but I know what I told them so if they can't transfer it to a form then I can't see them declining a claim on that basis. Am trying to sort it though.

It is a mirrored NCB policy and states I have 3 other cars but access to no other cars WTF ?? Also states 2977cc, no PAS, no alarm etc etc.

Thanks for the insurance ideas.

I have tried moneysupermarket and confused but they are not really competitive for me. I think my on-road parking and my postcode scare most underwriters off :o

I will probably go with the firm Darren recommended on another trail (part of HIC on 08451 290290). They look good value and they seem to know what they are talking about.

I will look at track cover as when I need to cross that bridge.

Happy motoring,
Chris.

If you go with HIC's Club scheme, you get track cover included.
