Putting this in here for now, untill I get the costings done correctly, but as a rough guide £350 plus P&P

Edit: price is £350GBP, Postage is €30 euro.

This is the display model for me to basically do photos etc, but the finished product is just the same. Only thing I didnt add was the small cut out on the right side for the OEM NSX-R stay bar, this can be added but not sure how may people would prefer this, as obviously the stay bar setup would have to be purchased separately.

These covers are more superior to the ones purchased from Taiwan, they are strengthened, the lines are better and more close to OEM spec. I will get this fitted and update with more photos later and can show comparisons of the Taiwan one against this.

This one is done in the plain matt black, they can also be done in Carbon, and any color of carbon too.

This is the old one from Taiwan, you can see where it dips down in the middle and also the terrible line it takes across the back window and how badly cut/shaped the cover is there. [The back window line is curved]

Done... not the best pic...but ill make some new ones...some day...ah I know when the engine cover comes in....lol

I know you put a lot of work in it and it all seems easier then done...but I also know its not all that easy to deliver a quality (handmade) product for an affordable price.

Thnx for the development of this engine cover and I am looking forward to fit it on my NSX.

Hi, Sudesh.

What a fantastic nice looking engine bay cover.
It always amazes me on the level of attention to the detail you pay on your products.

Now that you developed this new product and although you may have already completed the testing, you must continue the endurance testing for the owners so you can’t sell your NSX…….

Hi, many thanks!

I could probably do covers for the targa, but what I would need first is, the OEM targa cover. With this I can see the differences visibly and then look at creating covers just for that model.

Sudesh, By the way, i'm sure in my storage somewhere I have a new, never been installed Type-R cover prop rod assembly with all the bits for installation i'd be willing to part with when I can find it in my box of new NSX parts if it's needed.
I bought it a few years ago thinking I could adapt it to an OEM cover but it wouldn't work without bodging it up and I didn't want to do that so I adapted a Targa cover for extra storage instead.

Hi there, the cover fits all years, and it does not matter if the car is manual or automatic; however at the moment the cover is only for COUPE models.

Hi,

i have a taiwan one yet to be installed, but i've read the sag comments before...in yours, the frame is reinforced,
but do you think that the mesh itself won't sag?

i'm considering yours, but i have to sell the one i have first...can you get me a quote of it shipped to Lisbon, Portugal?

Thanks,

Hi,

There is much more to the cover than what is in the Taiwan one, if you seen the 2 in the flesh, it's actually quit embarrassing how bad the Taiwan one is. But I guess at that time, we got those very cheap and you can see why.

As for the mesh sagging, I believe the issue is due to the actual Taiwan frame having no support, not the mesh itself! You can see that the frame has bowed across the back line nearest the window, this is because its about as thick as a sheet of paper and built like cardboard lol. What we also noticed was, the sagging was uneven on the Taiwan cover, again this was due to the fact it was thin in one place, bit thicker in another and less fiberglass in some areas than others.

Also if you look at the genuine NSX-R cover, the mesh is just bonded in a simiar way, which indicates Honda put the strength through the frame too.

nobby
03-09-2012, 11:21 AM
having seen the 2 side by side in person yesterday, the difference in quality to the Taiwan one is night and day IMHO

The difference in thickness and materials used makes the whole thing sturdier and simply you cannot compare with the cheap import that everyone got back in the day. Sudesh etc have done a great job in making a great alternative for those of us who never had the chance to buy/own the exiting 'cheaper' option. Really cannot see this variant sagging etc as frame is so much stronger

Also the fitting into your bay is so much better as well. A very nice product indeed, cannot wait to get the one I ordered installed in my own car. Fortunately I did not splash out on that cheap version in the end. PHEW!

my advice, stick your existing one up for sale and opt for one of these when they become available. you will NOT be disappointed

i bought the Taiwan cheap one until i could afford a OEM one, but with this replica and the stated quality, i think
i will buy it instead.

My cheap Taiwan one was never installed, so there is no sagging yet and can be reinforced.
I will sell it for 250€ + shipping, which is about half the price of Sudesh beauty, in case anyone is interested in this cheap option.

EDIT - Ohhhh... did i read it right??? NSX-R wing ?!?!

Thanks for the comment.

The covers weighs 2.8kg.

With regards to the prop bars, I wasn't planning on making those, but was talking with a guy in the US that has done some molds of prop bars in the past so possible something could come from that.

However with the request of other purchasers of the engine covers, I decided to add the cutout/hole for the prop bar as some of the guys that purchased wanted this option so they could either make their own prop bar or look into getting the NSX-R one. There isn't really anything special about the NSX-R prop bar and some of the bits are shared with other models and there is the option to use some of the mounting support from your OEM cover too.

I also use the OEM NSX-R bolts to secure the cover to the hinges, they are the only bolt that in my opinion looks correct. I can get those for owners if required. You can see them on the yellow car and my own

The OEM prop bar is around £57 from Honda, I'f you want to buy all the OEM bolts, plastic mounts etc you could add another 10 to 15 on that, all above is a rough idea.

I have the OEM stuff coming and will post up once it all arrive.

CF version is made to order, so far all have chose the black type. You can have full genuine CF or CF overlay.

Yeeeeeeooooooooowwwwwwwwwww!
Having already seen the prototypes etc and now seeing one fitted to my car, really does look the business. So glad in the end that I did not opt for that old group buy one from HK or whereever it was.

Another big thanks to you for taking the time effort and expense in getting these made.

For the quality and price of this its a no brainer ... considering some people are looking close to £300 for the old one, which is completely insane cause they are total tat in comparison.
Pics dont do it justice cant wait to to see it in reality.

BTW the NSX-R head cover really does lift the whole thing ... if i do say so myself, but still does not warrant the stupid price for it!

Considering this was designed by hand and made from scratch, NOT moulded from anything else, it's a superb piece of had built work, it's just a pity people don't get to see the time/work put into it.

I see you spotted your other new NSX-R extras lol looks very nice

Yeah, I know the time and effort spent on it ... you guys do a proper job for sure. Defo really happy with the way it has turned out. You know how long i have been after one since seeing your car for the first time ... nearly 2.5 years and I even considered that tat from HK to boot a couple of mths ago phew!

It does need that 'bit of plastic' to help lift the effect ... subtle change but massive impact.

2 very nice changes and makes a real difference to the actual detail of the car ... very fresh imho

even got a thumbs up from mr. dmc boy! ; )

So would I lol

Had to sacrifice the one I had for my car and ship to a customer in Europe, so I'm back to the old one for now. But I'm planning on doing a full carbon fiber version for mine, but using a very dark carbon or possibly spraying a light layer of Matt black paint on it, so at first glance it will look like the ones in my pic, but at the right angle or up close, you will see the weave of the carbon, similar to the F40.

Going to work on doing the double din centre consoles shortly too, but also offer OEM style to fit the original radios but in carbon and various colors of carbon if required.

I have the the Kevlar color available that you see on the back of the NSX-R seats, and also seen on the very expensive/rare OEM carbon option, interior trims like in the pics.

Installed the NSX-R cover this weekend!:)

Instalation was very easy, Thank you Sudesh for helping me with the correct part numbers!

This is a great improvement to the look of the car, and with nice weight savings too! (3,02 kg with all the bolts and rubber gasket vs 6,40 Kg OEM), I'm very happy with it! The cover looks fantastic, even better when installed! and is a really solid part too!

Unfortuatly I'm getting an error every time i try to upload pictures :(, so I emailed Sudesh the pictures so he can upload them for me...;)

Thank you very much Sudesh! it was very nice to buy this cover from you!

Thanks!

My car is only driven with good weather and is only 25.000 miles... so that helps... but if you add:

- some patience
- good product to clean
- some patience
- conditionair for rubber and plastics
- some patience
- metal polish
- some patience
- swabs
- and maybe some patience

and you will get a good final result ... but no one will see this final result... only you and maybe your mechanic... that's when Sudesh will be able to help you...:D

I'm pretty much same as you with just over 20k now, but I still clean the engine bay every year, or maybe I should say dust it down as its never that dirty.

Have an NSX in at the moment for engine bay and underbody detail which is fun!

Sudesh can you measure the size of nuts needed for the NSX-R bolts please?

Hi,

Hi,

I'm not near my own car at the moment, but from memory it's an M6 nut using no10 spanner, nothing special can be purchased at your local hardware store; or if your unsure, just take the bolt with you an pair it up.

If you can find them I suggest using a flange nut.

I went to install mine today, with genuine NSX-R bolts, nylon washers and nylock nuts and I seem to get binding on the sides where the corner meets the rubber? I've loosened both sides of the hinges and pulled it forward and out as much as possible but it doesn't seem to help. I've noticed from Bruno's pics that the corner in question sits 'inside' the rubber rather than behind it - is that how it should be?

You need to do the adjusting at the hinges where it bolts to the car, this allows you to get it lined up correctly, might take you a few times to get it the way you like, but you'll get it. Never had any issues with fitment, they are all made from the same mold and I've sold quite a few now all over the the Country and Europe.

It's on the white one....the cheap Thailand version is on my Red one.
There hinge is missing so I have not properly installed it...it is just placed there and held in place by the shut engine hatch. I managed to get a second hand rubber moulding.
Will take pics at the weekend.

I did loosen the hinges and managed to pull the whole assembly 'forward' slightly but it still catches the rubber as you can see in the picture and so doesn't automatically 'close' and sit flat unless you push it down, and when you do that it rubs against the rubber and looks like it'll wear it out pretty quickly. Any more suggestions?

I've also installed my NSX-R prop bar, so here is the update (In order to install the bar, you need to fabricate a small part... i used a bit of aluminum plate painted in black to hold the clip that holds the bar - you can see it on the second foto):

Hi,

Really stuck to give you any more suggestion as I've not had anyone with that issue, jut double checked my own car and no issues there.

All I can say is, if your not happy, I'm more than willing to take the cover back and send a refund, or give the cover to the CF guys and have them take a look?

Entirely Up to you, I don't want anyone to be unhappy with the product and service.

Prop bar looks great! I have yet to install mine.

On the little bit you fabricated, basically on the NSX-R, that large silver resistor has been specially modified/raised, so the white clip protrudes from it. But that's a nice simple solution you have, well done!

It cost £14 for postage!

And as you broadcasted the fact there are issues with the YOUR cover in the thread, rather than contact me directly by PM or email to try and resolve the issue in a professional manner, then I feel obligated to CLEARLY state that nobody else had any issues with the cover.

Also as stated, I have said on 2 occasion that if your not happy, then please return the item for a refund. At least if I have the cover back, I can test it on my own car and see exactly what is wrong, also I can then show it to the Carbon Fiber guys and let them see what the issue is and how to resolve it.

I thought this was a friendly forum and a friendly discussion of your product? I had PM'd you previously about the NSX-R bolts but you hadn't replied even though you said you would so that's when I started posting on this thread to get help. When I posted the picture up it was so everyone who had bought one could offer some advice on what I was doing wrong, so are you not being overly sensitive about it?

Sudesh
18-03-2013, 04:21 PM
I did reply to your question and to make it clear, you were asking me for specifics about a "nut" to fit the bolt, as I explained, there was nothing special about the nut and it could be purchased from any hardware store, I mean all you had to do was take one bolt with you to a store, and pair it up to a nut that suits, not that difficult I believe, I had to do exactly that myself for my own cover.

I explain exactly the same to everyone else that purchased a cover, not had any issues from them regarding a nut.

Yes it is/was a friendly discussion, but I believe it was YOU that made the first snippy comments as per post 97 above, so just as you felt it necessary to express yourself, I thought I would just do the same!

And again, apart from flying over to view the cover in person and seeing what could be done, I had no options in way of advise, other than what was previously mentioned; so I was standing over the product and offering a refund, you choose to ignore that, and post on.

Also let me make it very clear, you DID NOT contact me directly privately in ANY way to discuss the issue you were having, you didn't even give me the chance to work out a solution of some kind, maybe even take the cover back and get it to the CF guys so they could take a look, or even send a new replacement.

I have another members car in for work with the cover on it, and we both stood and looked at his cover and mine yesterday and there simply was no problems with fitment, I have another new cover in my garage and tested that today, again no issues. So I can't figure out what went wrong with your one.

I've had a few PMs from members regarding purchase of NEW covers.

Yes they are still available, but they are made to order and if there was 4 or more orders, then I can have them made.
It's simply not worth it for us to make one at a time anymore, as there are bigger projects being undertaken.

But if there are at least 4 members committed to buying a cover then please feel free to PM me.

Thanks

hi Mark,

I believe these are direct replica to the OEM part. If this is so then you can install on a Targa as I have the OEM on mine. You simply need to fabricate a small spacer off the hinge. If interested, shoot me your email on pm and I'll send pics

Not too far at all! I was near that direction myself this past 2 weeks, had a long road trip Holiday with the Family. Went from Cairnryan to Ashbourne in Derbyshire, traveled around quite a bit, went to Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall, and Alton Towers etc, [love the old castle at Alton] peak Distric and so forth.

Driving up through near Kendal, saw the fighter jets training through the valley, what an amazing sight!

Now I've got to get the correct bolts to fit it, any ideas where from?

i've just noticed that it looks like there are 'creases' in the close up photo. It's only the reflection of the cardboard box it came in.

Look forward to seeing the CF one fitted!

Here is a list I done for the OEM hardware a few years ago. You don't need to buy OEM if you don't want too, any local hardware store will be able to supply you nuts and bolts to fit.

You also don't need the OEM NSX-R brackets, you can re-use the ones from your old engine cover. But if your fussy, it's hard to beat OEM.

The prices may have changed since the list below, you should be able to order all those bits with your dealer.

NSX-R HARDWARE

BOLT,FLANGE,6X16 - 90006PT2003
£1.75 each 2 = £3.50

BOLT,SPECIAL 6X14 - 90151SR2000
£3.73 each 4 = £14.92

BRKT A,ROD HOLDER - 69112SL0900
£12.32. Old one can be used

GROMMET, BNT STAY - 91604SD2013
£4.21

HINGE COMP,ENG M/ - 69210SL0900
£55.21 each 2 = £110.4 Old ones can be used

ROD,HOLDER - 91503SS0003
£3.18

STAY,ENG MAINT LI - 74845SL0900
£69.31

Total £217.86 plus shipping

The CF one was special order for the member above, so that's why there is no price in the thread.

It costs £490 plus delivery

Thank you Sudesh!
The engine cover had a very precise fit and was easy to install. Too bad that the original support bar is so expensive.
New titanium "R" bolts are ordered to fesh it up !
I am very happy with the purchase from Sudesh.

Thanks Seninha,

The original bolts engine cover NSX-R (REF: 90151-SR2-000) are very short if used original hinge NA1, you have to put spacers so you can lift the engine cover.

The Honda CBR screw REF: 90118-MEL-000 is longer and very similar

The rest of parts that used and four nuts.

Hello and thanks for the inquiry on this.

You may have missed my post and others friends telling not to inquiry; as I have had sever health problem. I was in a coma for 5 months, then a Doctor that I can never thank enough, was able to bring me round. I then had a whole process of luring to talk, read, walk, eat, and much much more. This battle still goes on. I have 29 tablets a day to take, but the battle is much better. I do how ever fall into seizure from time to time. And I still can't write too good. Good job I haven't any cheques to write lol.

Anyway I've talked enough on that......Yes the engine covers are being made, I have 5 just being finished off but if more is required it will be added on.

Thank you kindly,

Sudesh

Nuno hellos to you! Hope your keeping. Good

in late 2013 early 20i4 [i think] this is when I was in coma. So these things fell off the point as nobody in my family could access my emails, forum PMs and so on. This is why my forum friends Andrew [nobby] Paul Kaz have mentioned to hault contact me as and questions, could not be replied too.

I was still in hospital through 2015 going on 16 as I need to learn to do the things mentioned above. I'm still going in and out of hospital yet, fell into bad seizure not long back, ended up in there again for 3 days.

Nuno, can you please PM or email more imfo on your NSX-R cover? My brother and father are looking after some of my business.

Hi Sudesh,

yes... i know that... and after you came back, i sent all the info i have on PM,
and you send some PMs saying that it was almost done and ready to go.

I will resend it later tonight, but bottom line is that you had my cover already
made and ready to send to me when your health problem hit.

Thanks,
Nuno

Sudesh

Not a bother Nuno! I'll get something sorted for you. Yes I came back but was also back in hospital again, on more than one occasion....then the many seizure on top of that when I did get out all still contunie. plus I lost password to the club so had to find some way to get in contact with Paul or Kaz, which I did and there good help managed to do so.

As mentioned this is all new to me again, it's like child starting from scratch. For me to even write this has taken about 30mins, I bet most would take a few seconds or couple mins?

Can you pm your address again?

Take care, Sudesh...

Take care man... i really wish you get better..

Hi Nuno,

Appreciate your reply.

Yeah, the in and out of hospital is annoying. I just got letter on Saturday saying they want me in again, for more test, MRI scan and so on. Hopefully won't be long stay but told to pack bag just in case.

The Doctors themselves are baffled on the condition I took and why...it's a know condition, rare but I have a very rare form
of it that they speak to specialist in uk etc. I have to sleep with emergency button on me to press and wake family when seizure comes on.... Also have to ware a bracelet with info won't talk on here.

Don't worry on your cover, I stand over anything I sell and yes tracking I'll pm you too.

I have family living out in your area, my dad used to have an apartment there too.

Any adverse effects fitting one of these to a stock car like extra heat hitting the rear glass for example? Is there a location point to fit the shorter stay on the right side? Is the engine noise more noticeable?

exiges1
14-11-2017, 01:20 PM
No problems with heat (so far) after a year plus, noise does increase which is what I wanted but won’t suit everyone, depends on who makes it but mine has NA1 R stay which works fine, if you have early car with engine fan this has to be removed and two holes are drilled to hold the R type bracket.
