I think that's actually a genuine Honda option too, remember seeing it in one of my JDM brochures, it's not the stick on overlay stuff.

For the clarification, it’s not a fake wood.
In fact, it’s using very rare and exclusive natural wood and hand crafted by Tendo Co. Ltd. in Japan.
They are famous for supplying the interiors for the Japan’s Emperor.

The shiny wood panel surface is not achieved by spraying the clear coat on top.
It’s done only by polishing the wood surface carefully for days.

They carefully overlay the thinly sliced natural wood over the complicated 3D curve of the centre console frame so it requires really high skill especially at any curved sections.

Because of this complicated and delicate process, it will take about three months after you placed the order before you can have it installed.

With their special technique and know-how, Tendo was selected by Honda to create the real carbon centre console for the Type-R and NSX-R.

Thanks! Though it was real stuff myself as its in an accessory brochure I have and from memory was really expensive too.

How do they expect to sell such a sought after car with wheels which are heavily curbed.

Looking in my NSX book, Birds Eye Maple i think the wod is called was apparently an expensive option. Exterior colour is gorgeous.

Not sure about the previous owner of this NSX because the marking is not all around the wheels but when I used to drive through specific course/track, most of the drivers driving fast on purposely used the side gutter and hence, lots of scratch markings all around the wheels.
We just leave them as they are because next time when you go on track, it will add more scratches.

Also in Japan, even you re-spray a single panel of the body, that will decrease the value of the car.
Even without any previous accidents, full body re-spray is treated as ‘accident history’ on most of the cars.

People prefers to see the original paint if it is just the stone chip unless the panel/paint has already cracked/dent.

I guess, it’s the difference in culture.

I am definitely turning Japanese, then.

It takes a lot of skill to make real wood look that tacky - M-B are experts at it too.

I don't mind the screen-printed stuff in the 'Lude, but that's just wrong...

Nothing a can of satin black paint cant rectify.
Lets face it it's us Brits that are probably responsible for manufacturers putting wooden dashes in sports cars. As far as I'm concerned this could be made out of solid bur maple and french polished by a time surved craftsman and it would still have to go.

When the Limeys (and TBF the Ities) do it with moo, it looks classy & smart; Bristol/Jaaag/even Maserati etc.

When anyone else does it, it looks utter sh ite.

I thought I read somewhere that the wood trim option was around £1500.00

pretty much stacks up with NSX parts pricing

tbh the wood trim does not look too bad but would not want it in my NSX ... Prefer a carbon or metal finish
