Just been quoted £2071 by Chiswick Honda for a cambelt, waterpump and crank pulley supply and fit.
Sounds a lot to me, 1204 if you supply your own parts!
The lady said its 4 hours just for the water pump!!!
Surely not?

Tis one of the most expensive services, the pulley is around three hundred pounds alone.
Mine is due, I invested in a pulley last year to break it up a bit(via US).

It's only 0.5 hours for the water pump if you are doing the cambelt at the same time!
If you buy the parts from the USA, the labour only would be around £650 at Norton Way (part of Chiswick Honda group - better to go there when you want the work done - Speak to Brian in the service department).

Don't know which parts they quoted you on exactly but if you go to the Lings Honda website you can look up and check everything yourself.
Belt = £130
W pump = £321
Cam Cover gaskets = £83 x 2
Crank pulley = £460
Total = £1077 ish.
Have a read of Kaz's blog to see the other parts he would recommend to change for a cambelt service but above is just the bare minimum.
If you do go to a Honda main dealer for parts or service, ask for a discount, you'll usually get 10-20% off depending what you are paying for.

Hi, Diesse 19.
Not sure exactly which parts you requested to be included in the service but if it was just for the TB, WP, crank pulley and several gaskets, I think the quote is too high.
Best to check with Brian directly at Norton Way Honda as several owners brought their own TB/WP service parts and had them installed at about GBP600 – 800 for the labour charge. Just search this site using 'timing belt service' and you will see lots of feedback from other owners.
For your reference, in the Honda text book, the labour for the TB service is 4.0Hr and TB+WP service is 4.5Hr.
So, depending on what other bits involved, I think above labour figure seemed to be about right and not your quoted labour charge of GBP1,204.
Probably, someone without any engine service experience just added up the individual service time without deducting the duplicated task?
For example, if you just look up the Honda service system and get the quote separately for TB service (4.0Hr) and then another one for the WP one (4.5Hr), then it will come out as total of 8.5Hr.
However, in order to access the WP, one must remove the TB so the quoted WP service of 4.5Hr already includes the TB service and thus, it should be treated as 4.5Hr service and not 8.5Hr.

I would have to agree with that, seen the same above thing happen to 2 other owners.
I'd also go the US direction for the parts, I purchased the complete 90k kit which was everything apart from plugs as I already had new ones. Cost me something like £450 landed at my door.

You still pondering over the yellow one?!
our American brothers and sisters are the way to go for parts
I had asame dilemma a few years ago for my Import NSX, Honda quoted me about £2k+ I ended up getting all the parts (+ some extra gaskets/seals, air and oil folters etc) landed at my door from the good US of A for £500. Then got a local specialist (does skylines / supra / scoobies etc day in day out) and he only charged me £250 labour.. Job done.

It concerns me too , so thats not going to happen.
I only tried them because they are closest to me and seem to be part of Norton Way.
Seems they cant even get a ball park figure right!

Good man!!!
Thats still appears to be a very nice car, and not bad price wise
with the timing belt and all done to the car in Cork ... that is one LESS hassle for you
As i said to you, its NOT the initial purchase of these cars ... its the bits n peices needed doing to keep em tip top ... just ensure you have a % of purchase price ear marked for servicing, parts etc
and get on the ball re the US for parts, acura dealers, dali etc
best of luck, keep us posted on progress!

The group was the first Honda dealership in the country. All this ringing up "we noticed your brake pads are worn - bring it in while we've got no work er, I mean before you crash it" cr ap is centralised in lovely Chiswick. Let's face it, a girlie at a call centre ain't gonna have the knowledge of an NSX nut.
Talk to Bryan Smith at Norton Way directly and you'll get a sensible answer. he's Service Manager and an NSX nut, which is nice...

Ask for Paul Wilson at Chiswick, he is the service manager there, He will know more, had mine done there,I provided all those parts and the labour was around £900 i think but it also included all new gaskets, an oil change and gearbox oil too.
