Morning!

So it seems my petrol flap has started sticking again. After queuing up at the petrol station for 20 minutes on Saturday it stubbornly refused to open despite numerous tries, and I was embarrassingly forced to drive away empty handed. Of course as soon as I got home to have a proper look it enthusiastically pinged open first try.

Until I can get it looked at properly, does anyone have any tricks for freeing it up when it sticks so I don't have to look like such a wally at the petrol station next time?

Cheers, Rich.

Get the paper towel located near the pump or carry used glove, towel, etc.

Place it under the fuel lid opener to keep the lever lifted.

Tap forward section of the fuel lid several times gently.

99% of the time, this should work if your lid used to open freely.

I experienced the same issue on many NSX when it gets really cold even if the lid alignment was adjusted in the past.

Also, please check the position/existence of the spring inside the lid.

My solution was similar to Kaz's - an iPhone 4 is the right thickness to hold the fuel flap release lever up while you tap the fuel flap.

If you need a new spring the PN is 74494-SL0-000 - £17 from HUK!

I have a new one but mine has been working fine for two years after carefully bending it out a bit more.

The ignition key wedged under the flap release lever worked for me,
. . . . necessity is the mother of invention.
