I'm not trying to turn this forum into a mirror of Prime, but I'm really interested to see which aftermarket wheels people have chosen.
I'm still deciding whether to go for the refurb or get a new set.
here are some wheels that I've seen and like.....
your pictures please!

they are the awesome Volk TE37 in factory diameter (16"/17") but an inch wider all round
more info on these here (http://nsxcb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=216)
sorry to hijack your thread James (but you did ask for it :D ) but here's a few more Volk TE37 pics for you....

James,
Here's a few for consideration. IMHO I would stick to a bright silver finish for your Red NSX, and wouldn't rule out the 02 Honda design (apart from price probably)
Of the three, I like the twin 5 spokes on the LBB. Not too oversized to look wrong on the car, good brake visibility, polished rims and I should think an easy wheel to keep clean.

Hi Senninha,
I think you're probably correct regarding colour, despite my cravings for gold spokes (probably stems back from the days when I felt it necessary to repray my toy cars!) Obviously I don't do that now I'm 32!
Anyway I get the impression, that on the whole, UK NSX owners stick to the OEM set up rather than the often bling US approach. I guess that's partly down to wheel size vs road quality issues?

........." rather than the often bling US approach. I guess that's partly down to wheel size vs road quality issues?"
It's because we've got taste
I personally belive Honda engineers (who know a lot more about achieving optimum performance than I ever will) put the car into production with the given sizes for a reason. It's always going to be a performance / ride / aesthetic balance, and an issue people will never agree on
I fancy some white wheels (oem size!) for my red / black, but think they'll prob look naff

Well, I bit the bullet at Christmas and ordered a set of ENKI RPF1's from Mark in Dali. (see picci below - not my car, just an example)
I went a bit bling, and got 17 & 18's, with 215/40 up front and 265/35 out back. I know already its going to be a bit hard, and to make them look really good, it will involve dropping the suspension (like the red one Imvarma posted), but one silly upgrade at a time.....
I will have them "on" when we come out from our winter rest!!

Jesus guys, a bit of modification doesn't make us all "American"
i think this set up (as i obviously would) looks much nicer than stock.

Is it me or do people seem to be getting a bit overly touchy on this forum? Or is it just the time of the year
At least some nice pics are being unearthed in this thread :D

Lol - someone been putting something in the water?
Each to there own is what I say. It doesn't really matter what others think so long as you like it.
Although do make sure you are aware of the weight and offset etc before you take the plunge (including the weight of the rubber!) so that you don't get any surprises. If anything will increase wear on other components, that is fine so long as you know in advance.

Sorry if i seemed touchy.Didn't mean to come over that way.I just think that subtle modification(when done right)can far improve the look of any standard car.

I've took the bling option (photo's to follow when I return home) as for weight saving I'd better spend some money on liposuction and curb my love of Stella Artois :(

I still think the OEM 7 spokes look great BUT if I were changing it'd have to be a quality *** wheel so there's a better chance of the correct offset and low weight.
Faves are the Volk TE37 (Darren has posted more than enough pics already!!) but I aslo like the Enkei RP-02 which are similar to the Volk Gram Lights

Mixed Sorcery and Taitec parts.
Expensive as hell? :P
I will try the new Compomotive 6 spoke, 17 on the front, 18 on the rear.
But their web site sucks, I’m going to have to very careful which model I get.
It’s going to be tricky.
But at least they have a billion different offsets.
I’ll get the 9 inch wide rears (18”) and get them narrowed to 8”. I don’t like the way their 8” wide 18” looks.
Front, I’ll get the 8” narrowed to 7”
They look like the Technomagnesios (sp).
The main reason I’m getting them is the price, my price around £150 each. My kind of budget. Narrowing £75 each in Germany.

why bother narrowing??
those widths are ideal as they are
I'm running 8" front and 9.5" rears - these widths are perfect for mounting the max width tryes you can get under standard arches
I love the way the car drives in the wet. I believe thinner are better. I also checked the widths of Ferraris etc, most of them are narrow too. 7” in some cases.
They have wider on the back, but they all have much more power than the NSX.
My experience in the wet is that 8” wide tyres are too wide to have fun (front). There is not much weight on the front, I feel 8” is too wide on the front and will aquaplane.
You have a point though.
I want to move the offset to fill the wheel wells more. But with the same width wheels, the scrub radius would increase by about an inch, this would not be good (I suppose). I hope not, but normally changing the scrub radius that much is really a big change.
So wider would limit this change…
I also want to use 45 series tyres not 35. because the roads in my area are full of holes. This will make the overall diameter really big. I hope this will look good. But the tyres will rub because they are much bigger. So thinner may help somewhat although it will still rub on the front of the wheel well.
I will order the 4.2(?) crown & pinion to compensate for this increased tyres size and do the Japanese gears at the same time.
The car will have to be lowered to compensate for the 1 inch bigger radius.
I haven’t done the math yet, I will do before I decide tyres etc.
Darren, how is your car in rain?

A question for 710;
if you are going up a size on the front to 17's. What size tyres will you run? I was considering going to 17's allround but am worried about losing the steering feel and ride quality.

dunno - it's a track only car, and I've not been out in anything but light rain

James,
Wasn't the 02 spec 17" all round with 215/40 front and 255/40 rears?
If you're going to 17"'s then I would think Honda's chassis boys know what they're doing

yes, but i wonder if the ride was harsher because of the 40 series tyres. maybe they softened the springs, i don't know...

I wonder? I also wonder how much difference it would make to the ride quality by going up to 17's but going half a profile smaller?
Is there anyone on this site who has changed from 16's on the front to 17's, on a standard road car?
Cheers,
James.

I have 225/17/40 on front, and 265/18/35 on the back of mine,
To me the handling is a hell of an improvement over the standard and not too stiff, in fact just having OEM Type R suspension fitted to make it stiffer!
Wet weather driving is a bit twitchy at the back but only due to my driving and poor throttle control!!
Have Bridgestone SO3's all round, definitely better than Dunlops!
leigh
so leigh , you have 8" or 9" wide on the front? do they rub when turning?
If you could do me a favour, turn your wheels all the way and tell me how many millimetres you have between the tyre and the plastic bit in the front of the wheel well.
What offset are your front wheels?
did you lower the car (or is it lowered with the type-R suspension)?
then i can calculate a little better than now.
I still have the stock (15") wheels, but with S03s. I love them.

I think the offsets were 39, but dont have any of the wheel paperwork any more, bought them about 3 years ago. So far theres been no rubbing at all, and tyre wear has been great. The fronts have about 25K miles on them, and i get about 8K on the rears.
The car will be dropped about an inch with the type R suspension but shouldnt cause too many problems. I cant measure at the mo as the car is at Plans Motorsport having the mods done, will do it when i get the car back though.
I know David Fenn ran the same set up (type R suspension, 17/18 wheels) and had no problems.

James,
Too fussy for my taste and I'm not sure about the fully polished finish on the NSX. On your red I would look at bright silver, maybe something like these?
http://www.scienceofspeed.com/revolutionized/featured_customer_cars/Chang/shop.jpg
I'm trying to decide whether to refurb mine when changing tyres or to splash out on these in the gunmetal grey finish

Think they would really 'work' well  with the magnum ...what do you think?

Had you considered the Volks CE 28 NF in silver? They might look good on yours? (see the link for whifbitz earlier in the thread)
