Hi all,

I would like to acquire a set of OEM wheels and was curious which would fit over my rather well endowed Stoptech calipers? I imagine spacers would be needed an I believe I know a NSX with 02 wheels on prime over his Stoptehs but what about the older wheels?

thanks,
joe

Hi Joe,

The older (91-95 / 96-2001) wheels don't fit over the stoptech calipers / discs. You need at least 17" wheels to fit them.

You will need OEM 02+ wheels as a minimum, possibly with a 5mm spacer up front ... or you could simply sell the Stoptech's ;o)

Haha the calipers are staying, the stopping force is worth the wheel ballache!

You need a spacer as Paul mentioned but 15mm front and 25mm on the rear, if these are your calipers - http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/braking_performance_parts/NSX/Stoptech/big_brake_system/

Thanks for the info everyone.

What sort of price does a used set of 02 wheels come up for? Also does anybody know the rim weights f/r of these wheels?

Info courtesy of a post by Greenberet:
17" x 7" front rims: 7.68 kg (16.93 lb)
17" x 9" rear rims: 8.94 kg (19.71 lb)

Obviously rare over here but you may be lucky to pick up a set of 02+ wheels for £1500 - £2000. A lot more common in the USA as you know, and when I was looking, by the time they were imported & the duty & tax was robbed from you, they still come in around £2000.

You can allways try to get a used set of prodrive GC-07C (17 x 7.5 et 44 + 18 x 9.5 et 44) and keep the OEM look of 94-01 wheels (it may need a front 5mm spacer):

Or buy new GC-07J from prodrive... but new ones are pricey:

Or what about Rays or Mugens?

The GPs have quite a generous backset so you (hopefully) could get away with a less-nasty +48 offset?

Also another problem with the US is that a lot of private sellers are reluctant to ship them over!

Theres one brand new wheel on fleabay for £899.00 plus p & p!

Those ProDrives are generally very BBK friendly.
Most case spacers are required with OEM wheels.

Excellent brake kit though probably the best one available.
Although I haven't reviewed the specs on the AP or PF sets.

I have an 05 with stoptechs and had OEM wheels. You need 15mm up front and 15mm rear MINIMUM to clear, but the front with 15mm spacers become very flush and the rears look sunk in by comparison. To get the right look you need 15 and 25.
