Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone on here has moved on from their NSX into an F360 and if so what were their experiences. I have briefly driven and been driven in one for a good distance in the alps and I am rather smitten by them, I see that could be a next step for me. Any advice would be appreciated, this would likely be next year, I do love my NSX :)
thanks,
joe

I think Marky on here has one, but he doesn't post very often. Search for user Marky and you might find a photo or 2.

Nothing sounds like a Ferrari v8, I hear they are pretty strong and not that temperamental.
Good luck with search/purchase.

Thanks! Yeah they do sound amazing with aftermarket exhausts. I have a delicious memory of a 360 spider giving it the beans in the tunnel under mt blanc. Incredible.
I will be keeping my nsx this year as I hope to buy a property, however next year fingers crossed I will sell my nsx and buy a 360 spider :) I haven't come across many horror stories during my research this year, a few blown engines across hundreds of owners seems pretty good. Rigorous servicing seems to be the order of the day, which is just how I treat my nsx.
It is either this path or steer towards an nsxr however I am not convinced an nsxr gives adequate value for money for me, however much I want one!

Have you tried a 355 Tokyo-Joe, everything I have read suggests this is a better car than the 360. It is also worth talking to Dave at Forza288 based in Hampshire, he is an independent Ferrari specialist and known as Ferrari Dave by his friends.

Had a passenger ride in a 360 many years ago, great car, would love one if I had the space and deeper pockets!

My old neighbour had a Spider, nice & been for few spins. With regards to ownership, it was rarely used & was kept
in a storage.

Well I have a year to wait - and a year to enjoy my lovely NSX :) I would like to take it to Lemans and the Petrol Head Nirvana tour to Brittany hopefully!

The F360 is when Ferrari finally caught up (with the NSX). Full aluminium chassis and decent reliability. I drove one at Thruxton. It felt a little bit faster than the NSX but much firmer, even than my Type S. Steering felt very different being both lighter and quicker/faster.
I'd avoid the Spyder and "F1" automated gearbox but that's probably just me being a purist. Don't expect NSX running costs though even if you get one with all the big routine service stuff just one!
I prefer the looks of the F355 which, if it didn't need to be a daily driver, would be my choice if I wanted an obvious supercar ;) This colour and spec would do me... http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/ferrari/355/ferrari-355-gtb/1026101

Thanks for the comments!
i appreciate several of your passions for the 355, but to me it's the 360's smooth and flared looks that's the only one I would consider. I think it looks timeless and will (and has) age very well.

I agree with that, I love the shape of the 360, personally I find the 355 a bit bland.

355 was the last beautiful Ferrari ... 360,430,458 have all aged really quickly IMO
599 however is very classy

The CS is a little more, but a 'regular' 360 can be adjusted somewhat ;)

That's the last time I say how much I like your subtley "modded" NSX Paul!!! ;-)
I have to say a 355 was on my list however the 360 to me just got that much better looking when the chips were down and I got serious. The interior is so much better than the 355, it;s not as if we don't get enough stick for the "dated" interior on the NSX! (Which I think has stood the test of time incredabiley well) it just felt a nicer place to sit IMHO
It took me a few months before I really started to think that I had done the right thing, then something happened, maybe I started to understand the characteristics of the car more, but the smile factor was huge, the noise (ok, living only 15 miles from the Hindhead tunnel helps) is awsome, especially with exhaust valves open all the time. Ride, steering and feedback is very responsive, the more I drive it the better it gets.
Just had my second Anual service, this time I went main dealer route as I had a few problems with a specialist (still have one on going issue with them) not only did I get a loan car for the best part of a week (not an option with two local speacialist service centres) they were also £130.00 cheaper!! same work was quoted for by both parties, so happy days. £650.00 for anual service, when you see what gets done it does make you lol, but I did reseach before hand so I knew what was coming.
I went for Manual otpion and it suits me, didn't try an F1 box, that can come next.
Not sure if the above helps, the two cars are very different in so many ways and I still enjoying both, just depends if I want pop ups or fixed lights! o, and go faster red is the only way to go! LOL I guess I can always get it wrapped to S2NSX standards (Paul, at least you know I like the wrap)
Longest post I have ever done, need to go out now, if you want any more info drop me a line always happy to talk cars
Cheers

Hi Paul ... I wondered what would get you to the keyboard, lol
Good to know you learning your new toy and the Hindhead Tunnel runs could be a great excuse for mini-meet
Take care and see you soon

The point I was making is that since the 355, the cars have lost the beauty from the design and in so doing have lost that timeless quality some designs offer. Noise aside they are not for me head turners in the way a 599 would catch my eye. I see plenty of the various models on the run into town during the summer. 355 & 599 stand out for different reasons.
The thing that 'ages' the 458 is the over-styling of the car ... tall lights, too many 'functional' gaps in the bodywork, 3 exhaust tips (Why on a V8???), Halfrauds alloys and then retro 355 mirrors mounted on the the doorskin like the NSX ... what was wrong with the elegant 360 / 430 mirrors?
I guess its good we are not all the same, but I do beleive ferrari should bring back beautiful design .... or at least classic and timeless so that they dont age immediately.
regards, Paul

We agree on the F355 but not the 599. Styling is too fussy and it's waay too big.
I much prefer the 550/575. It's still a big old bus but the shape is far more delicate to my eyes. I tried a 550 about 8yrs ago when I saw them drop below £50K. I remember it feeling big from the drivers seat, softer than I expected, comfortable and very long legged. I took it up the A3, from the Cobham entry/exit. Nice but I'd take still go for the the F355 if I had a Fezza itch to scratch... which I don't :)
Cheers

They moved the mirrors down away from the airflow to the new higher intakes, moving the old fashioned side vents, this I feel simplifies flanks into some nice simple lines.
The wheels are functional light and elegant.. and round..
I don't see why people have a problem with an odd number of tail pipes, maybe superstition?

What has been your experience with the car? Has it lived up to your expectations? How does it compare to owning an NSX?

My experience has just got better with time, as I said the first few months of ownership I did wonder if I had done the right thing, but with more time to drive, even look around and understand the car more, the whole experience became even more rewarding. Most responses from passer by and occasional fuel stops(!) are very positive, people like to stop and talk or show their children the engine etc, so on the whole all good, you will always get the other type of recognition, but I'm getting better at looking the other way and letting them have there say, worst one being white van man overtaking on back road to Goodwood and waving in a not so nice fashion, but hey, it made him feel better... God I must be getting old!
Into 3rd year of ownership and my fear is that I might not end up selling and it becomes a keeper (NSX is now well and truely in that bracket, I still have the for sale boards in the back of my car form JapFest from 3 years ago, but when I drive the NSX I still very much enjoy the whole experience) I don't hammer the cars everywhere, just tend to enjoy when the times right, they both are very rewarding in their own right, totally different, but gives me the best of both worlds... for the moment!
360 wouldn't be a daily car for me, the NSX has been, and it goes without saying it had no problems, in the early days I would do around 6000 (not high for some on here) miles a year pretty much without fault.
Am I glad I purchased the 360? 100% yes.
Cheers

360 is are pretty much the better of the old dino V8 cars,
308 and 328 where pretty good for Italian standards, 348 and 355 are horrendous, 360 a huge improvement.
Still like Paul pointed out it can't really be compared with the NSX.
Cam belt changes are painful for the wallet but that's a well documented occurrence, I do recommend the up-rated tensioners as those are far better than the originals.
Clutches aren't cheap ether certainly if you have a F1 car.
We have get them around a few times a month.
