Hi Folks- Sean here writing from across the pond in Calgary, Canada. I've been lurking here long enough that I think it's time to say hello! I have had my 1991 Sebring Silver NSX for 2 years now and really enoy it. I'd wanted one for 20 years and am so thrilled to be an owner. Here in Calgary it is especially great to have an exotic becasue the Rocky Mountains are only an hour's drive away, and the drives to them and in them are phenomenal.
FYI- My mum is from the UK and emigrated to Canada in the 1950's. That, a vacation to London a few years back, and a few layovers in Heathrow are the only connection I have to the UK- hopefully that will change. That's about it for now- look forward to writing and reading more about the NSX Club of Britain.
Regards,
Mr. Fuji

Hi Sean. Nice to hear from you....You live in wonderful country and Alberta Calgary with the Rockies is my favourite place. The roads are fantastic. I have had the oportunity to spend some time in Corvette's but never a NSX. I have only ever seen three NSX's around calgary a yellow one on Crowfoot Trail, a red one with supercharger on owned by Will who lives in Tuscan Ridge Place and a Sebring Silver in Northfolk Drive. There seems to be a few around according to Will. I am amazed at how many cars clubs there are in Calgary. Still very cold there...and too many rocks on the road for nice cars to go out and play.

Thanks folks! This really is beautiful country, but I fear that we take it for granted. The only downside is the winter- where it can get pretty cold, and the salt & gravel on the roads means most folks don't drive their cars until mid spring- as Kingsley mentioned. Not a lot of history here though... especially when compared to the old world- you guys have us beat for that!
Kingsley- There are about 8 local NSXer's that communicate regularly, but I think there may be many more. The Silver NSX you saw when you were here was almost certainly me. If you ever find yourself back here be sure to let me know.
Take care and keep in touch!

Hi Sean welcome spent some time in Alberta many years ago, mainly in Medicine Hat, loved the country and the Rockies. I even took part in a 5 mile road run in Calgary to celebrate a Fire Chief (I think) few years ago now!!

Hi Fuji, my sister lives in Calgary and I've been over many times. Great city and surrounding country. I took this photo when I was last there in the summer of 2011. It was in one of the shopping malls downtown. Recognize it?

Hi Sean and welcome. It seems that a remarkable number of people here have connections with Calgary. Mine is that, working in the oil industry, I get to visit your fair city from time to time. I always try to bolt a week-end onto any trip so I can hire a car and go for a drive up to Banff, Lake Louise and my absolute favourite, on along to Icefields Parkway up to Jasper - just spectacular!
I was visiting a few years ago when I owned an S2000. I met up with a local owner who took me out for a drive. It was February, -20 outside and snow/ice was packed and frozen hard on all the roads. It was an incredible eye-opener to me to experience what a car equipped with proper snow tyres and a more-than-competent driver can do in these conditions!

Totally agree with Whyone on how many people hear have connections with Calgary....Never lived Calgary but we have a house in Wildwood and have been over loads of times....I only know one red NSX in Calgary this has full body kit and supercharger owned by Will so there must be at least two. If you get the oportunity try the drive from Calgary - Canmore - Banff- on the A1 then the 93 through Kootenay National Park to Radium Hot Springs - Invermere is great just like the Lake District but nicer ...The roads are fantastic even the logging roads are good. Fuel is more expensive in BC due to tax so fill up in the gas station by the Old Banff Road......... Feel a trip coming on.......
If any one knows where you can hire a Corvette in Calgary or Vancouver we are looking to do drive holiday between Calgary and Vancouver. No problem finding a Mustang ..just wanted a Corvette

Wow- I certainly feel welcome!
It is a small world...who knew that so many in the NSXCB would have a connection to Calgary, half a world away?
I've driven the Calgary/Vancouver route several times, including a few in the NSX... it was amazing If you are not in a hurry, I'd suggest taking Highway 3 out or back- it bounces along the US border, and has some awesome elevations changes, hairpin turns, and of course, scenery; it just takes a little longer than highway 1. Highway 1 and especially the Coquihala are purely for getting from A to B as fast as possible.

Hi Sean and welcome,
I saw my first NSX in the flesh, a silver one, in downtown Calgary in 1993. It was a dark cold morning and I was walking from the LRT to the office when it pulled out of an underground parking lot. I was working for Shell Canada at the time. Best place I've lived by a long shot. And despite what some might say, the best climate! Big blue skies .... it helps if you like winter sports though!

An update for you NSXCB folks: Those who know Calgary are aware of the sometimes inconsistent weather here. It was about 18C 2 weeks ago, so I broke the NSX out of storage and spent the day running errands, getting quotes for a respray of rock chips, and I even went to Canmore to pick up my wife's favourite pizza! Since then we've had basically cool weather, with about 4-6 inches of accumulated snow currently on the ground. I wish spring would arrive, and stay for a while.
My wife and I have new baby (now 6 weeks old) as well as a toddler, so it's getting harder to find time to get the car out. Hopefully I get some driving in soon, because I am starting school again in August...going back for a Master's degree. After that who knows when I'll be able to get out?
Anyway, for those of you who have welcomed me, sent note- thanks you! Those who said they may be in Calgary this summer- send me a note with details when you know them. I can always find time for a pint! :)

Great news- I am now a British Citizen!
I applied earlier this year, heard from the UKBA in August and drove from Calgary to Vancouver earlier this month- in the NSX of course. There I attended a small ceremony at the consulate...next step is to apply for a passport.
I would have taken a longer way home through the rockies, but was in a hurry to get back to my wife & daughters, work, and studies, so I took the fastest way. Even the relatively banal TransCanada Highway is 970km of awesome sights and plenty of opportunities for spirited driving, I'm sure Kingsley will agree. I'm lucky enough to have done this in the NSX 3 times now, with more to come.
One bonus: there are several tunnels through the mountains (literally) where I get to enjoy my Pride V2 exhaust and RTPs. Video is here: http://youtu.be/dF0a_KMFpxw
Sorry that the video quality is terrible, but I assure you in person the sound is spine-tinglingly amazing.
That's my update.

Hi Sean,
Must be alot easier to get in to the UK than Canada then.........Congrats. I take it your car is back on the road now then. I believe it was with Roberto's at Spring Bank having some work done. I did try and meet up with Roberto . Not to be ...We were on a road trip to BC and then he went to BC for a car show. I did call and see Will and his car was also at Roberto's with a wide bodied NSX . There always seem to be loads of evening car meets at Chinook, Marda Loop Safeway, Grey Eagle Casino etc.....some very special cars. There seems to be a few more NSX's around Calgary now. Do you know who owns the black Porcshe Carrera GT
Will try and meet up next year .
