Both low mileage - the Type S is virtually unused !!

Sadly exchange rates can be cruel sometimes. I wanted to buy the triple black 03 car at KS Route last year but just couldn't justify the cost although had the money to do so based on the YEN at the time . Now that car would have proved to be good buying based on today’s exchange rates - the car is long since sold.
I had a knock to the head & bought a Porsche GT3RS instead & although love it - the NSX is the only car that I haven't owned & have a strong desire to do so . I spoke with the guys at KS Route last week after enquiring about their '03 NSX-R & they have told me that prices on those cars are going up ( mind you Vogue Sports asking 30 mil Yen for an R is outrageous ) however we all know that the JDM has isolated itself in terms of residual values on their NSX's - the Japanese still love that car .
One of our x2 NZ new 97 3.2 targa's ( both Indy yellow with cream leather) was sold last year via Honda Cars Newmarket, Auckland - a Japanese businessman who lives part time in NZ walked off the street & bought it - he has since returned the car to Japan .

I agree - the ideal would be the black seat inserts and door panels.

65k plus costs is still a bit steep, but not that much more than the red facelift recently sold at Chiswick Honda.....

What is it now, 150? I guess it still has a way to go before imports are seriously viable. I seem to remember seeing 240 Yen to the pound a number of years back.

Cheers.

The Japanese have recently announced another round of money printing - desperately trying to push it down.

The orange inserts would look good against an all black car as well :)

Very nice, would love to have a pre facelift type S alongside mine! Is the R spoiler standard on the S Zero?

Is the R spoiler standard on the S Zero?

Nope. Neither is the steering wheel or the S2000 starter button :)

So from the description on Prime the Zero is not a Zero as it states the Zero only had the Orange seat centres ...

Thanx for the link ;o)

My understanding is that the Zero is a stripped out version of the Type S:

harder suspension (NA1 type R?), less soundproofing, no air con, no stereo, non-HID lights, no anti-theft?, no keyless entry, no central/power locking, (and therfore a lighter wiring harness), no power steering, no power seat adjustment for passenger, and obviously no airbags.

The Zero has an optional accessory in the form of an air scoop for the rear window - whether this is functional, or just for show, I can't find any information. There is a picture of this on page 151 of the Brian Long book, and another accessory, but I haven't a clue what this is.

At 1270kg, the Zero is 50kg lighter than the Type S in 1997 and a saving of 500,000 Yen over the Type S price.

Later, in 2000, air con became an option for the Zero, as did a power seat for the passenger side

The Type S Zero was only available from 1997 to 2001 and sold less than 50 units, the regular Type S around 175, of which 15 or so were the 02+ facelift models.

I don't claim to be an authority on this subject - far from it. All the above has been culled from various books, brochures and Japanese car database websites.

One of the best websites to compare specs between various NSX sub-models for various iterations of their production is

http://specs.amayama.com/honda/nsx/

There are 3 different variants of the type s zero, in 97, 99 & 2000, and there are 7 variants of the Type S from 97 - 05

http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/catalog/HONDA__NSX/

I'm guessing that there may only be a handful of cars in some of the variants....
