Looking at Prime, and working with a US distributor. He's suggesting going 18/19...what do you think?

Ask him if he's driven on UK roads lately.

You have to ask yourself whether you want performance or looks. The extra rolling mass is going to slow acceleration, increase stopping times a bit and be more work on your suspension. Then you'll look at your little brakes and want to replace them too! Are you coming from 16/17" because there would probably be quite a difference in ride feel.

...even less acceleration & he'll be going backwards!

i would be worried about our roads and the extra stress put on suspension components, joints etc

As above Geoff, plus our Prime friends would expect you to 'slam' it to avoid the 4x4 look ... So it's a no from me ...

good question above though ... Bling or performance?

And as Simon says, OEM brakes will look very small behind most aftermarket wheels so choose carefully

Must admit I feel that 17/18 combination is the way forward

This is what I have and I think is the best compromise for our roads.

When I had my last NSX (MY 2000) with 16 inch front and 17 inch rear, to save the original wheels I fitted after market 17 inch front and 18 inch rear and noticed little if any change.

Not a bad price if Detlef still has some.

But I cannot then return them!!! There must be some logic in there somewhere but I cannot find it. Ah well onto my next choice Advan T5's.....

I'm a Rota dealer.

Very few choices for the NSX though due to the stagger.

Choice is these or the G Force in Gunmetal. There were some choices in white, if you fancied white that is.

No problem. Nothing in GRA or SDR sorry - because of the specific fitment there are only a few choices.

Current stock in the UK is:

Grid – white 17x8 et30,18x9.5 et30
Force = bronze 17x7.5 et45, 18x9 et30
Torque = bronze/gunmetal/white 17x8 et35, 18x9.5 et30
GTR – Gunmetal 17x7.5 et 35, 18x8.5 or 9.5 et30

If you dont fancy the colour options we can get professionally recoated at cost.

regards PaulI expected your answer to be along the lines of "Red ones wont need 265's". But I have now re-read your earlier post....

"What you propose should fill the arches a bit, but for a fuller option you could go with 18x9 35mm with the 17x8 +38mm ... this would give the stance in the earlier photo ... tyres 265\35 rr and 215\40 front and you'll get no TCS issues as this is the same as 17/18 Enkei set up I was running last year ... mine are not twin spoke but NA1R style so probably not of interest"

On the basis of your advice above I am not expecting any rubbing or TCS issues (I am going for the wheel sizes and offsets you mention), but I was unsure whether running a 215/265 combination would have any issues because of the 50mm difference between front and rears. (ie effect on handling etc)

ALso with regards to tyres can I use The Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 directional tyre 215x40 (front) with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrical 2 on the rear (265 or 255 depending on outcome of above)

You seem to be saying that I will have no issues with 265's but might have some TCS issues with 255's?

Hi Geoff,

I'm no expect but based on the homework I did with more knowledgeable owners, 265 was deemed the 'safe' midpoint when moving to 18" rears. Others have and do run 255 or 275. I opted for the safe position of 265 with 215 upfront.

All the best

Most aftermarket wheels have a tapered, not radius or acorn as its sometimes referred too, seating surface and thus require lug nuts that are tapered, too. See diagram below.

I have ordered the Advan nuts that go with the wheels (in correct Honda size) so shouldn't be a problem. With regards to tyres I had a very interesting conversation with Goodyear techies today. I was planning to get Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's in 255 or 265 for the rear. They done do Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's in 215 for the from so I asked GY if the Eagle F1 GS-D3 was a suitable tyre to use on the front. Advice from GY was NO these are not a good match. I then asked what they would recommend from within their range....nothing! FYI Their new Efficient Grip range is not meant for us either. SO question is what tyres do you all recommend now for normal occasional (predominantly summer/ dry)use?

Good to hear you have your nuts sorted Geoff!

Ref tyres you have a few choices ... on my Enkeis I run with HanKook Evo's which work well on the NSX. I run Yoko AD08's on the OEM 17's which are great summer tyres but wont scare you if caught out in the rain. On my daily I'n running the Kumho Ecsta which perform in line with the Hankook's I had on previously

Personal preference, but if I'd just splashed out on high end wheels I'd go for the Yoko's

looks like you're moving from the original question already then.... :)

(edit after a bit of googling....) i wondered why vredestein hadn't come up on my tyre radar... as i've had the 17/18 combo on the car for a while, and check what's available in the right sizes and getting both front and rear from the same manufacturer range is a problem...

vredestein.... don't make them in a good size for the 17's..... http://www.vredestein.co.uk/car-tyres/summer/ultrac-vorti/sizes/

Camskill look like they have those tyres on offer at the moment, can probably get your wheels shod for about £400. Bargain.

I hope you have at least 9.0J width ideally 9.5J at the rear wheel.
Tyre decides the wheel size, not the other way round.....

Have you new wheels for the ZigaZig Ah? That would look great with some Advans or TE37's.

IMHO you would be better with 255 on 9J rim, they will work with the 215 fronts ...

So whats next for the OEM NSX ... coil overs, BBK to fill the BIG gap behind exposed rims ;o)

SS ... you must be running out of space in the garage for any more rims!! Has Papa been in touch?

I've nicked the wheels from the Black car and put them on to the Red/Black.

I have put some H/R spacers on the rear and that has improved its' stance.

Hi Geoff, have you sourced an exhaust yet for the NSX? if not then this looks interesting and sounds good too .... if I was choosing today I think it would be between this or Ary's Zerodrone if I wasnt alreay satisfied with my own system

You are a bad person, Paul.

I am interested in finishing off the car with an NSX R rear CF Spoiler and one of Ary's ZD exhausts, but I have to fund a new everyday drive as my missus wants my car (Renaultsport RS250) and she has told me to go and find a new car for myself. Even better she has said (and I quote) "Why dont you get yourself a Porsche Cayman!!!!!"........... now you know why I love my wife sooooo much! So the exhaust and the NSXR rear spolier might have to wait a little.
