Thought it may be interesting to see where people keep their cars when not out enjoying them. Having had an empty garage for a few weeks while my car was at VTec Direct I tidied up and made some more space to walk around the car when it came home. I definatly need to do a car boot soon as the loft in my garage is full!

Having had three 1930s houses in a row, I'm not familiar with this idea of being able to walk around the car! Most jealous... :)
Even the Mk1 MR2 I had would hardly fit inside the garage designed for an Austin Seven. At the moment, I'm looking for a garage to rent. :(

It's £40 worth of rubber backed carpet, my wife thinks I am mad as I get the Dyson out there every few weeks. I should really buy a shed to get all the garden tools and bikes out of it so I can have even more space.

I'm not sure that's wide enough for a Lambo :) One former NSX'er had to have a new garage built (no joke) when he downgraded to a Diablo as it wouldn't fit in the old one.

Thanks Geoff, when I get it back, I'll take plenty more pics.
I left it with a Lambo specialist in the UK for a service, and new upgraded clutch conversion, which uses a Murcielago clutch and some fancy other bits, the whole package basically transforms the driving of the car, as the weight of the pedal is reduced to something that is even lighter than the NSX clutch.
The heavy clutch is something I hated on my first Diablo, became unbearable in traffic.
Im going to do a few other changes to the car too, would like a set of SE30 wheels and side skirts for the car, as its already fitted with the SE30 front and rear bumpers plus rear adjustable spoiler, it also has the SV roof vents and rear grill.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the comment.
That particular garage, wasnt really used for that type of work, so can't see me using axel stands etc in there. I will however ask the question tomorrow and report back, as its a very good question; can't see it being an issue? those tiles are quite heavy and thick.

It's the 2wd Diablo, and non power steering [the only way to have them] its also pre-audi build, which is what I wanted, as its true to its original Lamborghini routes, with its quirky characteristics. I didnt want a VT as they can be troublesome when the 4x4 plays up, and VERY costly to repair, I know quite a few have converted the VTs to 2wd because of issues.

Not sure how exact the figures are to date, but back in 2009 a Diablo guru reckoned that there were 169 RHD Diablos ever made.
He wrote:
Manufactured RHD
Around 25 6 litres.
Around 25 Roadsters (of 450 made)
About 12 SE30s. (about 10 left, 8 in the UK, 1 NZ, 1 Japan)
2WD N/A
SV N/A
VT N/A

To be honest I didn't want any of the mad bright colors other than the Viola, but that can be hard to find, Jay Kay's viola SE30 is currently for sale for £150k.
When I viewed this car, it just looked stunning, in the sun its actually looks almost like a pearl/metal flake. I think its an extremely rich color and the word "BLAND" is something I think, can't be said about any Lambo [well maybe gallardos] the shear size and road presence says it all.

Hi Paul,
Just spoke to the tilers here this morning, they said absolutely not a problem using trolly jacks or axle stands, the whole floor is troweled and levelled correctly, so there won't be an issues using equipment on there. They just said, they would probably put something non slip on the tiles first, so not as to scratch them, plus safer when using jacks etc.

I was just tugging your leg. That shape Diablo, with the roof scoops and pop lights, the best of it's type. Wouldn't look 'bland' in biege.
I noticed the paint is pretty bad on some of the early ones, feathery at the door mirror edges. Better by this time I'd imagine?

Your 100% correct about the paint! I personally think that all pre-audi Lambos, have certain paint issues, there hasn't been one I looked at that's looks like a proper modern factory finish, but its ths type of thing that's part and parcel of owning early models and gives them character. My first Diablo had only 3000km when I sold it, and even it had its niggly bits.
Paint issues could also be down to the various differences in body material? alloy doors, steel roof and other composite panels, makes it a mix and match setup.
I can easily say, the build quality of the NSX is vastly superior.

Paul as soon as I get the car back, polished and hovered out I'll start taking more pics. Got a few things Id like to work on too. It has some carbon upgrades on the interior that Im not sure if I like or not, steering column cowling and the centre console trim, I've also ad out guys re-create the original over mats, as Lambo no longer sell them, I was fortunate to have ad the OEM set in my car, so just used them as the template.

I've noticed before that they have a rather peculiar dash angle/shape. The window line appears to start high up but I guess it's more to do with how far away from the driver it is. How is it for visibility? Probably no worse than modern cars!

Yeah the drivers angle is actually pointed slightly to the middle of the car, its certainly an odd way. When your in the car, the dash does seem to be far away, but its due to the size of the cabin, the front window is huge, and lays quite flat. Visibility is vastly improved over the Countach, you just need to always remember the car gets very wide towards the rear, so caution is needed depending on where your driving or what your passing.

Really depends on how its used/driven, one of the big ones is the clutch, but if the car is driven right, no reason you wont see 30,000+ miles from one, driven incorrectly, might not see 3,000miles. The engine is chain driven, however still requires
the usual attention. But with Mike Pullen being based in the UK, you won't get better for servicing, highly reverred withing the Lambo community and an absolute gentleman, with some beautiful cars of his own. Also looks after Ferraris, Paganis and pretty much all top notch exotics.
Im going to do most of the servicing myself, anything major, I'll have a word with Mike.

The wheels are the standard pepper pop design, however the rears have been upgraded to a much wider lip, giving a more deep dish compared to other Diablos, but Im on the look out for the SE30 magnesium alloys, the nicest wheel in my opinion for the car.

These V12 Lamborghinis always look huge on their own, but actually are not that much bigger than other supercars. But of course those extra couple of inches make themselves known occasionally in certain tight spots.
I was very surprised when I looked up the curb weight, not that much different from the little Honda. Less buns for the Honda from now on..

Looks stunning, started looking again and really can't fathom JK's choice of interior.

Thanks Simon, Diablo ownership is certainly not disappointing, if you can get your head around the "hand built" quality and retro feel, then you'll love it.
In ref to Jay Kay's old car, Inactually like that, its not as bright looking in the flesh.

Yeah can do, I'll take some today. The nice 20 degrees weather is gone and replaced with lovely rain :(

I also like JK's interior! A lot!
Sudesh, you are a hero for buying a Diablo in that specification. What is actually like to drive then? I understand the romanticism and quest for originality, but personally i love the end of the line Audi Diablos. Thought they looked perfect.

The photo's have been "sharpened" and "saturated/exposed" far tooo much with a HDR effect, that interior would not look as bright in person.
Sudesh; stunning Diablo, such an aggressive looking car.

Was this still in the days when the Lambo marketing department wrote the spec sheet simply by adding or subtracting as they saw fit from the equivalent Ferrari models figures ;)

looks really cool, love the doors and the view from the back. looks good in the garage, fits in nicely!
the interior from what i can see looks good in that colour, prefer that model to the audi ones, they look a bit nissan 300 zx at the front.
look forward to seeing it at a few car shows in n.ireland.
Very nice car :) great taste!

The later cars do use the ZX headlights, just like the NSX, when pop ups were outlawed, they had to find a solution.

Front panel alignment looks a little off ;) I'm guessing the stops on the front boot need altering.

Ha ha... i can forgive a Lambo for an 'offbeat' colour combo, not sure about an NSX ;)
