There's something a bit melancholic about the sound of a solo F1 car on a track. It's a real song.

Years ago, I was at a corporate PR day at Brands Hatch with Toshiba, and whichever F1 team they were sponsoring at the time (I forget) did a few solo laps on their own. The sound of a single F1 car howling and fading in and out through the scenery was totally bewitching.
