New floor mats

Whilst wandering around Silverstone classic (as you do when you are there for 3 days) I kept being drawn to the autostyle.co.uk stand in the trade village. My car , being a daily driver needs mats, and again, being a daily driver, I don’t want to use/ruin the JDM shaggy OEM mats that came with the car, saving that for the shows!


At the Silverstone classic, the guys at autostyle had decided not to try last years approach of bringing 150 different mat sets, and taking 148 of them home again as they never met the car/colour/grade/edge trim/logo requirements of the customer, but this time just brought carpet colour and grade samples, with various trim/stitching examples. Buying mats over the interweb is a pain as you’re never quite sure how good the high quality OEM standard ones are, and they are usually no better than a normal £5 Wilko door mat!


Anyway, with the carpet samples on show I was quite taken by the dark green they had on offer (I know, more colour co-ordination!) Then I had the edging debate… would green be too much? would black be better? If I go black should I have green stitching, or green with black? Maybe no bother at all…. But the green carpet does look nice! I even got a small seat leather sample from my car to check the colour (no idea why I still have it in the ashtray, but the leather does smell nice!).. pointless really because pretty much any green goes with any green! If it didn’t trees would clash with themselves!


Turns out the green carpet was obtained from surplus stock from Bentley! That’ll explain why it was a better quality than all the rest on offer! So after careful deliberation and a slap from Sarah for dithering I decided on green with green, green stitching and NSX embroidery! £60 was duly handed over and they’d be made to order!


A fortnight later they arrived! I wasn’t disappointed!

with very nicely embroidered NSX legends, the stitching sheen changing with different light angles!

nice! However it does leave me with a slight problem…. These might now have to be my new ‘posh’ set… they are that nice I don’t want to get them dirty…

I bought a set of this company's mats last year. They can provide tabs and place the locating holes for you for both driver and/or passenger sides. One way is to make a paper template of existing mats and their hole position then sending it to them...best contact them direct for exact instructions though...

Mine does not have locating lugs so I don't think all had them....or are they a retro fit item that can be installed? Never looked into it before....off to Google now...

But I did just check out the Website and they claim that they WILL NOT add the 'NSX' logo. In fact, no manufacturer or model names are allowed. Presumably the OP's were done by a nod/wink in person at the show?

they just asked me if i wanted a logo.. i said 'ok then'... nsx was offered, i accepted. they may have thought i'd have a car that matched my initials and took a lucky guess! i'm sure they could be accommodating if asked nicely. as they had the design already i'm sure i'm not the only one to have them!

The anchor/holder pin is normally included when you purchase the OEM optional floor mat.

For US, may be Acura included just one anchor at the driver side to protect themselves against any legal cases of floor mat being caught under/over the pedals???

Any way, it would be nice if this floor mat company can provide a set in red/rouge that is used for NSX-R model.
OEM one is no longer available and I want a set when I convert rest of my floor into red.

It has to be said that the carpet used to make Britludes looks to be of a higher quality than the standard carpet used by them - I believe mine were sourced from them and are a standard cheap black carpet. That might be worth clarifying for a possible GB.

it was the best quality of the carpet samples they had on their stand, and said to be sourced from Bentley surplus stock..

just an idea, (stolen from T2Go on Prime), collect names of truly interested parties and then go to the company with a committed list of buyers ... Should make their decision to support easier!

I had some carpets from them for my iop car this year. The embroidered 'NSX' in orange was a perfect match for the car. The piping was also in orange. Not quite the same colour, but looked great. The service was also very good and the overall quality of the mat was excellent.

OK, here we go, Group Buy is now official ....

I've spoken with the supplier today and mat samples are on their way to me as I type.

Being able to advise that we already have a number of interested parties worked well.

The Group Buy

Autostyle will supply a pair of RHD overmats for your NSX in the colour of your choice from their range against which you can choose either a matching or contrasting edge piping and NSX embroidered badge (1 to each mat). No other options available within the GB offer. See Jonathans first post for an example.

How to order: add your details to the list with the combination you would like by 5pm on November 28th 2013 at which point the GB closes. Extended due to delay in receiving samples ...

The overmats will be offered in the highest quality from the Autostyle range. If you wish to order the green overmats they have a small quantity still available from the Bentley supply - these would be strictly first come first served offer. No other colours are currently available.

Pricing is confirmed at the original show price of £60.00 for the pair of overmats and includes shipping direct to your address - do not post his information on the forum.

I will then provide all the order details to Autostyle on Friday November the 8th and advise each of you with the GB details for you to then contact Autostyle direct for payment and shipping details.

Again, thanks a lot for organising this. By the way, I emailed them to clarify exactly what they needed to know regarding the colours. The mat and binding bit is obvious from their web site, but for the badge, they told me "We do embroider onto a panel which is then welded into the carpet. You can specify the colours for the background and for the letters." This is why I've specified mat, binding, badge panel and NSX logo colours.

Hope I didn't confuse everybody.

I'm just off the phone with Autostyle ... samples were shipped the day after he and I spoke so he is very appologetic that nothing has been received. Paul, is the black sample a cut or loop pile? I'm pretty sure when I saw britludes green mats, the Bentley carpet used has a loop pile whereas the mat I have which I believe is from these guys is a cut pile (almost like a flocked finish). If it's the cut pile I'm out as the ones I have already don't seem to have lasted long.

To answer a couple of questions that I've had either above or via PM.

1. Christmas orders - if you want the mats as a pressie please order today as the factory closes Friday 20th December
2. Edge binding - standard is the leatherlook edging as shown in the photos. Web-edging or Overlocking as it is sometimes referred to, is available in black or grey only. Please specify when ordering if you would prefer this to the standard edging.
3. Carpet Pile - Peter's history is carpet trade so his knowledge is very good. If you are concerned about the wear implications of a cut pile vs a loop pile, please discuss with Peter. He describes the Premier mats that we are ordering as a velour effect cut pile.
4. Retaining holes - the pattern has been checked and the locating holes to the DRIVERS mat is described as OEM position.

Has anybody else tried putting their mats in their car yet? My driver's side one fits well, but the passenger side one is about 10 cm too wide up in the foot well. It follows the shape of the floor as it should on the left side, but on the right it's too wide and ends up folded up the side of the tunnel.
Or am I being too fussy?
Tried to attach photos but couldn't work out how I'm afraid.
