There's a good article about the NSX, old and new, in this month's Car magazine (Jan 2014 for future reference. Has anyone else seen it?

You can see part of it here for a limited time, apparently.

Read it in my local supermarket last Sunday then bought the magazine anyway!
Some other good, Honda-related stuff as well.

Let hope this next iteration is an improvement on the previous version which seriously undermined the Type-R badge.

Not sure the last Civic Type R undermined the Type R badge - it was fun to drive there was no turbo lag, the engine buzzed upto 9k and sounded just as good - I had one, the only issue was that it wore out the back brakes which were constantly being used as part of the stability control system to stop the car going where you didn't want it too - or maybe that was an indication of how sedately I drove it?

It was heavy, with cheap (read 'ineffective') rear suspension and didn't go around corners!

I had one, an O7 plate. I had the GT version in black with 19" rage alloys. It looked great and was built out of rock! So much so that when I decided to replace it I just went to honda and said "I want the same in Silver" Unfortunately they had down spec'd it so I went for the tenault RS250 instead but always said when they brought the new one out I'd be first in the queue!

......and was built out of rock.....

That will go a long way to explaining the weight issue I mentioned! ;)

I've got ask Ian, did you ever own or drive one? Mine has never had any trouble going around corners, infact Tim Harvey said how good it was when he drove it up the Hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

But yours is a wee bit modified.
Before somebody else says it.

^^^^^This^^^^^....I would bloody well hope so after fettling adding ~100% to the price of the standard car!!! (Though I have never driven the Mugen version, some fool drove the one I was due to drive up the Goodwood Hill into an old E-Type 10 mins before my 'go'!)

Yes I have - on two separate occasions, each time having the car over a 48 hour period. Compared to a Focus ST, it felt dim-witted, which is a very sorry state of affairs for a Honda.

the only proper type r hondas are the JDM versions, all the uk versions were watered down versions except for the first dc2 type r's which landed on the uk shores, i believe (and im sure you'll correct me if i'm wrong!) they were identical to the jdm versions with regard to the bhp specs. All the uk civic type r were around 24 bhp lower than their japanese domestic market counterparts, so I have to agree with whyone im afraid.

my brother owned one 07 GT pack and i never had any issues putting it round a corner.
i thought it was a very good car ... he had his car for close to 5 years and never had any issues with it.
he recently changed to a GT86 ... not what a hoot that car is! :)

i wonder what these are like to drive as seen one sitting a few months back in a shopping center near me.
seemed a good deal with a 5 year warranty and looked a nice motor. bet that engine is smooth too, what does it rev too?
does your brother follow your taste in motors or just enjoying whats out there?

i'm used to hitting 8/9000 rpm in my rx8 from 2nd to 3rd with the rotary engine and the buzzer telling me to change up lol.

We've done a lot of work with Toyota on the GT86 and we are doing a drive in Berlin in February with the latest Gazoo Rally version. My European office director runs one as a daily driver.

Toyota/Subaru engineers designed a unique machine: it's set up with a lean towards oversteer, so it makes you look like a driving god as you drift around every roundabout. However, sometimes all you want to do is to go to the shops, but the GT86 stil drives like it's balanced on a knife edge.

Great car (bit underpowered), but be aware of its foibles.

Got a hold of a copy...

I think the interview with Ted Klaus might have been from a while back. The article states, "The mid-mounted V6 will be a heavily modified version of an existing Honda engine..."

But the press release in November stated that the engine would be unique to the NSX and longitudinally mounted. From the press release pics, some people have speculated that the V6 will be just under 90 degrees and feature dry-sump lubrication and direct injection.

But I'm glad I got a copy. I enjoyed the article on the forthcoming Civic Type R, and also the article "Why We Love Honda".

Mani.

Compared to an S2000, it's a pussycat.

Proves you don't need big power to enjoy yourself.

Stupid, low-speed fun on winters. It's like a MK2 Escort. You have to put it on sport setting & drive everywhere like you stole it. It's much in the mould of a Civic VTi or a 'Teg, but with a proper RWD driveline.

It's not big and it's not clever*.

But it is fun.

*The Legend IS big & clever. But I also love drifting that round roundabouts on the way to the shops. Just me, then.
