View Full Version : Japfest May 10th 2014

Ok, first of all, I don't expect this to be a big deal for NSXCB this year. There are so many other events going on and Japfest has has fallen out of favour with part of the sewing circle.
So, with no-one coming forward to organise this years event, I've decided to give it another go.
It seems a shame not to continue with this event. Not only our first official club event. But also the largest Japanese car show in Europe. We've been going to Japfest since 2007 and it's a lot of fun. Early morning convoys, thousands of cars, all day track action and a chance to catch up with other NSX owners.
Unfortunately, there will be no million pound Ferrari's, no historic racing, no auction and no live music. Sorry. This is not Silverstone.
Anyway, here are the details; it would be nice to get 10 -15 cars.
Very Important
1. Set off earlier to avoid the bulk of the visitor traffic.
2. Enter at junction 18 not 17. Junction 17 can be a world of hell and best avoided unless you set off early. Aim to arrive at the correct gate no later than 8.30am.
Event details and payment
May 10th might seem like a while off. But the sooner we get this sorted the better.
Instead of charging per person, the organisers have decided to charge per car, with a maximum of four people per vehicle. Each car + stand pass will cost £20.00. I will take PayPal payment or cheques and send out the tickets once they have arrived. In order to balance payPal fees and postage. Please send;
£22.50 per vehicle before 28th of March to;
mrwynns@aol.com
or
J Taylor
46 Paganel road
Minehead
TA24 5EY.
Any questions, please either call me on 07977 142638. Or PM/email me.
Finally, the gate we need to use will be with your ticket information.
Those travelling from afar may wish to stay overnight at one of the local travel lodges.
Track time for the brave is available direct from the JF organisers.
Finally, please keep this thread clear for signing up.

Just spoke to the organisers and they've asked me to get the booking form in as soon as possible. So, those already on the list, please send payment as soon as you can. I can then submit an additional booking form nearer to the closing date. This way we get the pitch we want.
Thanks.

A very good point. I guess we'll see. The bulk of the club doesn't favour this event anymore and every year someone finds in necessary to share this point of view. It's a shame also that there are so many competing events so close to each other. I'm not saying that choice is a bad thing. Only that I think the club would benefit from a couple of main events. This way we get a good turnout because there are more people behind them. Japfest will always be a great event and I hope there will always be a hardcore of owners that will attend.
Cheers.

Just to let everyone know that all tickets have been sent out and should arrive Friday or Saturday.
As said before. Please aim to arrive early. Preferably before 8.00am to avoid queues. I'd also recommend exiting the M4 at Junction 18 rather than 17, as we are entering through gate A this year.
Cheers.
Thanks James for organising :)
Anybody going to be at chieveley services?
or leaving from around the midlands area?

Just wanted to add another big thank you to James for co-ordinating us before/during the event especially, at the time of very busy life with recent big happy news.
Posted further comments and lots of photos in my blog as well so if interested, please take a look;

Once again, thank you to James and all the owners who made the great time for not just for the club but also for the spectators.
Looking forward to meeting everyone again in the future events.
