Hi everyone,

I have been overlooking the forum for sometime now but never looked to sign up.

I have just now got my NSX on the road so I thought it's about time to finally join the club.

as my car has been sitting for the past 3years, it's not in the best of conditions.

i look forward to getting some help from you guys to get the car up to standard.

Welcome to the forum! Perhaps post some pictures or a build thread. There is a huge amount of collective knowledge on this board.

Welcome to the forum and NSX restoration!

if you can get along to either Jafest or Silverstone Classic you could tap the collective owners for knowledge 121 ... We are a friendly bunch and always keen to offer advice based on experience.

if you don't know where to start you might consider a small investment and book the NSX in for Health Check with Kaz ... Search his blogs for details. This will give you a very comprehensive report on the whole car from which you can then prioritise the works that are most important to you.

look forward to meeting you both

regard, Paul

Thanks guys, i will post some pictures up either later today or tomorrow when i have the chance to take a few and upload.

As my car is an import i'm not too sure what year my vehicle is; could anyone find out from the VIN number? i have a 1996 (i think) NA1 3.0L Auto.

My major issues are lack of power (kick down works on ocassions) .. Heating only works on full, Stereo turns on but radio and CD player doesnt work. Tape player works but very faint sound... power steering is not working.... the list can go on and on..

Hello and welcome from a relative newbie on here too. I have found the members to be very friendly, helpful and really great for ifo on our cars. I'm sure you will get a lot of help on here and as Seninha said, Kaz is your starting point in prioritising the work needed on yours.

best of luck,

Phil

Welcome, from a near neighbour. :) If you want to pop along, chat and compare notes, feel free to PM (although mine are manual).

Fujairah, eh... I've been there. Don't recall any NSXs; or any interesting cars at all, for that matter. :D

Thanks for all the advice.. I've already been in contact with Kaz, his already helped solve an issue.

Haha, yeah Found it in bad condition there and drove it over here.

Sent you a PM, good to catch up with an NSX owner, rare to come by lol.

Interesting. RHD (and therefore a grey market Japanese export) or LHD and built for the UAE-market? If it's the former, I wonder if it was one of those imported to Sharjah in the um... "interesting years" of Japanese exports? ;)

I imported a Skyline R33 GT-R waaaayyyy back, but only because I just missed out on a midnight pearl NSX at the same Sharjah car lot. Those were the days, etc...

Post some pics of the exterior and interior, if you send me the vin, I'll find the year for you, but usually can do that from pics too.

Hi, Fujairah_NSX. Welcome to the club.

Based on your photo and VIN info, your NSX is JDM NA1-100 type.
It’s 91-92 model.

Regarding your issues.....

AT shift/kick-down mapping is done through VSS and TH angle sensor.
I believe your VSS is now sorted so you need to check the TH angle.
The first step is to confirm that you are getting WOT when you floor the TH pedal.
You may have too much free play on the TH cable.
There could be other issues such as AT solenoid, AT gbox internal parts failure, ATF related issue, etc.

If you can't get any A/C air out of the air vent unless you set the fan speed setting at max, then it's the typical phenomenon of Climate Control Unit (CCU) failure.
It's caused by severe acid leakage from the capacitors on the CCU circuit board.
If you can take out the CCU board, I can take a look at it.

I will need further info on your audio system issue but very likely to be Bose speaker AMP failure caused by the same capacitor leakage as the A/C CCU and there is a possibility of head unit failure as well.
You can buy new Bose AMP from one German vendor or I can repair your existing one as long as it's not burnt or the Bose in-house ICs are not damaged.
I can take a look at your audio head unit as well.

For the EPS (power steering), I need further info including the error code.

Interesting. You found it in Fujairah; was it registered to drive on the roads there?

When I bought my RHD Skyline in Sharjah, I got a temporary permit to drive and some export plates. I could drive it for a few days. But I don't think anyone (= normal people!) was allowed to register RHD cars there at all. (And there were very few LHD NSXs in Dubai at the time I was there.)
