I am in discussion with Gabriel the seller on Prime to see how much he can discount if I order 5 or 10 of these....he current price them as $250 and shipping to the UK is $125 ...total $375 for one!...that is before tax/duties etc.

Anybody interested?

Biggest problem for most will be having to pull the dash out ... There's another solution on Prime, a simple overlay piece, just the sought of project our very own Jonathan could pull together ...

this IS the solution on prime...... i'm thinking about it as i have a cracked dash.... and don't want to be faffing about with big bits of aluminium!

I cant find it at present but I did come across an item a few weeks back where rather than remove the dash the owner had fabricated a small overlay part, maybe 10cm in length that was stuck to the OEM panel.

Will try to find again ... I accept its not the replacement fix but would be of interest to those not wishing to pull the dash out.

Hi Paul,

The solution you are thinking of IS THE SAME ONE which I have posted on my opening post....it is a trim to place over the cracked defrost panel and covers it!

NO NEED TO REMOVE DASH!!

I think that getting a CF overlay or aluminium overlay manufactured in this country would be the best and most cost effective solution for a GB.
Wish I'd not thrown away my broken one, that could have been used as a template.

I'd agree with that, I don't think it would be that difficult to manufacture, and would probably work out at a better price than what is offered on prime. I agree it looks good but at $250 + shipping plus tax, it's a bit much.

I don't know the spec or the thickness of the product but if placing thin narrow metal object inside the cockpit, with all due respect, I would first ask whether it went through some sort of impact testing or not.

It is very unlikely to happen but under huge impact from certain angle, you never know how it will dislocate itself from its original position and then which way the edge of the product will point to.
I hope it's not pointing towards you when your body is moving forward especially to your eyes...


Honda crashed many NSX to pass the structure impact tests and checked the crushable features of the chassis frame. At the same time, they checked the effects on the cabin components and have the long term know-how on how the rear view mirror, steering column, dashboard, etc should be designed with what kind of material in case of accident.
This is one of the reason why I only recommend installing OEM Type-R/NSX-R steering boss made by Momo if installaing aftermarket wheels without the SRS feature. It has the crushable structure within the boss.

FIA spent lots of effort in safety area and it even defines the protrude spec on switch/knob/dial/etc on the cockpit equipments for Formula Racing categories.
I think this is similar reason why the switches on the audio head unit on our NSX have different spec depending on the country models.


Above is just my personal thoughts and no offence intended to the seller or trying to block any group buy or development of a new parts.

I have not looked in any detail at the 'Prime' design but I would imagine it is secured with DS tape?

I reckon that it is probably stuck down, either double sided tape or some sort of glue, but I still think that we would be able to manufacture something similar here in the UK, and save a bit of cost.

Sudesh mentiones that it would look great in CF ( I agree, but again costly) but there is probably easier solutions to be had.

Once I get my car back from HUK, I'm aiming to completely strip out the interior and start from scratch, I might have a little look at how easy/difficult it would be to to rectify the problem or at least think of a few solutions.

Maybe even along the lines of a piece of black leathe/faux leather/vinyl that can be cut to fit and stuck in place.
