Firstly a little about DIXCEL

The company name DIXCEL, is a fusion of two words, 'Deceleration' and 'Excellence'.

Since the company establishment, DIXCEL has been focusing only on Brake systems, The products range from regular street to extreme circuit-racing use, boasting the best coverage of car models fro Japanese, European and American makes.

DIXCEL Brake pads and disc rotors are supplied to top teams in race series around the world: Super GT, Super Taikyu, Asian Le Mans, WTCC, WTAC, VW Polo and Scirocco R Cup

While steadily increasing its market penetration in the racing scenes, DIXCEL brand remains to be the favorite of the people. In the 2013 popularity contest by the largest Japanese car forum, three DIXCEL Brake pads were ranked in the TOP 5, and the TOP 5 Brake disc rotors were all from DIXCEL.

The technology we gain at the highest levels of motorsport is constantly fed back to the development of DIXCEL products.



As I like pictures, I will spread the products over the next couple of posts, starting with Brake pads then moving on to Brake rotors.

DIXCEL offer a number of different Brake Pad compounds, from high quality OEM replacements to Full Race endurance pads. There is a common misconception that if you are looking for the ultimate in breaking performance on your road car you need to install Racing product. Whilst this is the truth in some applications there can also be pitfalls in doing so.

I hope to use the remainder of this post to help educate owners in to making the correct choice of Brake pad for their application.

Out of the compounds available there are 3 that are suitable for the NSX with street use or the NSX with street / track applications, these are: ES type, M type and Z Type. Each have their own attributes which I will explain below.

ES type - 'Extra Speed' - Front £66.00 - Rear £54.00

"These are a very civilised and affordable high performance road pad that out perform many more expensive competitors"

Affordable performance street pad with a mild initial bite & high temperature resistance.


Made for aggressive driving on the street and highway with better brake performance
High fade resistance makes for stable braking performance even during aggressive driving.
High level of brake control making it ideal for drifting
Helps for a longer disc life
The friction surface of the brake pads are scorched to improve the bedding-in process
Non-Asbestos, non-Steel making it environmentally friendly
Mechanical brake pad sensors are installed (Only for models which originally come with sensors)

Being an multi-use brake pad, the Z-type can be for street-use to circuit-use.
Consistent braking even when the brakes are cold, something that is a must for street-use brake pads. Also helps for a longer discs life.
Stable braking power and high fade resistance even at high brake temperatures of race circuit usage.

DIXCEL offer a number of different Brake Disc Rotor options, from high quality OEM replacements to High Carbon, Heat Treated race proven rotors. Unlike brake pads choosing a race proven disc will not have detrimental effects.

I again hope to use the rest of this post to direct you in to choosing the best disc for your application.

There are four disc rotor options available that fall into two different categories: PD/SD or HD/ HS. I will list from most affordable.



PD type - NA1 >140 Front £186.00 - Rear £168.00 | NA1<140 & NA2 - Front £210.00 - Rear £198.00

"Highest quality OEM replacement Brake Rotor with added corrosion resistance."

The standard brake disc with increased corrosion protection!



On top of our usual product quality standards (product precision, surface hardness, and material composition [the ratio of materials like carbon and silicon]), we applied the DIXCEL anti-corrosion standard.
All of our brake discs come with anti-corrosion coating, something other manufacturers and OEM suppliers were not able to do, at a reasonable price. (Except on some truck applications)
In terms of precision, we set a strict manufacturing standard which helped us achieve reductions in both noise level and vibrations.
Improvements in durability, crack resistance and heat resistance were achieved by using a precise mixture of additives in the disc material.
Available for a wide range of vehicles
Better quality, and more reasonably priced compared to the OEM replacement.

SD type - NA1 >140 Front £300.00- Rear £276.00 | NA1<140 & NA2 - Front £330.00 - Rear £306.00

"For the user look for more performance from their brakes."

The safety of having an additional 20% improvement in brake performance.



Simulated testing of both the SD and PD discs in the same conditions show a increase of brake performance by up to 20%.
With a 20% increase in brake performance, the driver can drive with more comfort and safety.
After careful consideration of various factors such as pad wear, noise level, and gas ventilation, 6 slots was adopted as a standard for SD brake discs.
The best width, angle, and depth of the slots were chosen using the data from various races and road tests.
For the 6 slot brake discs, reverse rotation (slots pointing forward) is recommended for a better brake performance.
By offsetting the slots on the inner and outer side of the disc, an improvement in brake modulation was achieved.

HD type - NA1 >140 Front £306.00- Rear £288.00 | NA1<140 & NA2 - Front £348.00 - Rear £330.00

"The rotor has undergone an intensive heat treatment process to stabilise the disc to give it resistance to fade, warpage and cracking."

In pursuit of higher stability.



The heat treatment stabilizes the bonds between the elements in the structure of the cast iron. This prevents disc distortion and strain which is common immediately after installing new discs.
The treatment also optimizes the surface hardness, which improves brake response.
Higher performance can be achieved by using the HD discs along with the Z type or R series pads.
We recommend this disc for advanced drivers who require/want more braking stability.

HS type - NA1 >140 Front £384.00- Rear £366.00 | NA1<140 & NA2 - Front £426.00 - Rear £408.00

"All the benefits of the heat treated rotor will the additional slots to increase braking performance by 20% - race proven for significant increase in braking performance."

The high level fusion of stability and brake performance.



HS type is the high end model by DIXCEL, which demonstrates high performance in all situations from the streets to the race circuit.
DIXCEL combined the benefits of both the heat treatment (stability) and slots (brake performance) to create a superior brake disc, the HS type.
On the streets, the slots makes it possible to achieve high levels of friction even at low temperatures. At the race circuit, high level of friction can be achieved along with high stability for an extended amount of time with the heat treatment.
The 6 slots brake disc is adopted as standard in the HS type by considering various factors, such as pad wear, squeal and the removal effect of gas at the fading.

Now got the ES pads all round, just to say they didn't even blink going up and down four Swiss Alpine passes on a 35+degree day, at a pace that was keeping an Aventador honest! Seriously impressive, and very reassuring (and a great day!).

I did the first real drive with the ES pads (all four corners) on my car last week. Also up and down hill around the alps. I like the performance with warm brake a lot but I think they lack a little performance when dead cold. They need a bit of temperature to work at their best. Kinda like the Redstuff pads I experienced on other cars.

It seems they have been less popular than the PD and SD series so I would be happy to do a special deal on a the HS & HD to clear the stock if you are interested? The question re the package, we have agreed on the phone.

Re the pads I recommended ES pads initially as they are superb for normal road driving / fast road / light track. However Laurent has opted for the Z type pads as they are more performance focused!

Just ordered up a set of ES pads from these guys.

Cant see me making use of my carbotech and carbon lorraine combo this season so opting for these to tide me over.
Hopefully be a lot better than ebc redstuff ... never again!

Will post up thoughts etc when they arrive and get fitted

any chance of you guys setting up a forum voucher code for us guys like you have done on other sites?
