Some of you might be interested in this snippet from the new Best Motoring DVD track test of tuner cars starring the FactorX Tubo NSX:

I got to test drive it at my last track event and it was as fast as it looks.

Well someone has to do it

They installed our new front brake kit and I wanted to see how it performed holding back double the power of a stock NSX. Lucky for me it worked well enough for the Best Motoring Test Driver to be happy with them as well.

You may have also noted the drivers comments about the limitations of the stock LSD - we are sticking in the OSG LSD/4.44 R&P combo for their next event to take away the wheelspin exiting turns.

It was pretty fun. I can recommend the Factor X turbo kit to anyone with lots of $$. "Driveability" at part throttle was very good.

Those are the CE28N in Titanium Silver, 17X8.0 and 18X9.5.

as some of you know, I have this LSD in my car. you guys are welcome to witness the difference it makes if you find yourselves at a track event with me.

pretty much the lightest wheel you can get I believe (short of TE37 mags)

almost lighter than mine:
CE28N 17X8.0 = 14.74lb vs TE37 16x8.0 = 13.05lb
CE28N 18X9.5 = 16.53lb vs TE37 17x9.5 = 17.15lb

CE28N 17/18 set = 62.54lbs vs TE37 16/17 set = 60.4lbs

but of course, mine won't accommodate a BBK

of course they will you goof  the same one that the FactorX car has.

and it is not fair comparing the total weight of a 17/18 set to a 16/17 set. tsk-tsk.
The CE28N is lighter than the same size TE37 by ~ 8oz per wheel.

really?
I guess I've not been paying attention
got a link to the item concerned?

true, but those are the sets fitted to the 2 cars, so I thought I would ;)

yup - as I thought (shame the Technomagnesios are no longer an option :( )

but, if the BBK will fit under 16" rims, and FX have gone all-out for the lightest alloy rims available, why have they upped the sizes to 17/18 and in doing so accepted back some of the weight loss afforded by choosing CE28N?

the Tecnos weigh more than the CE28Ns due to being castings instead of forgings.

because those CE28N's are made for BBK's (like the Tecnos) with a thicker base pad to allow the spokes to clear the caliper and still have the proper offset to not have the rim stick out past the fender line - besides, with 560RWHP what's a few oz between friends? Having a properly designed wheel means you don't need spacers, and spacers weigh more than the slight extra base pad material on the wheel.
