Taitec exhaust

Does anyone have a taitec exhaust? Am considering an aftermarket exhaust and seems to be the only one available, anyone have one fitted that I can get a ride in to see what it sounds like?

Pride V2 quad is available and sounds the nuts.
I've had mine on for about 2 years, no droning noises and fit and finish second to none.
Will set you back about £1200 but well worth it in my opinion after checking out all the rest on you tube through a decent av speaker set up.

There is a Pride Lightweight version also. Its basically the same as the Taitec GTLW but with a newer design of muffler with more dense packing that reduces the drone.
I have just bought one of those and it looks great. Can't wait for the winter to end :D

Depends what you are after and how much noise you want, there is always the Zero Drone I have made for others.

You will need to sort out the adaptor pipes for the application on NA2 models when it comes to most of the aftermarket exhaust including the ones from Taitec.
Just be careful with the exh pipe diameter as you don't want to slow down the flow speed too much for NA application.

Pride also has the adapter pipes to make the NA1 type exhaust fit the NA2 for just $110

Its 2.25" ID or 57mm in non cowboy size :D

I love the induction noise as standard, just feel an exhaust would add to the supercar feel, especially on startup....funny when people stabd there waiting for you to start the car!

Most NSX exhausts are 'catback' systems. But another variable are the cats themselves (and I guess the same goes for headers but mine are OEM). I bought an Advance titanium exhaust and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with OEM cats. It was just a bit thin and weedy - and I had a drone at 2-2,500rpm which was a bit of a pain.

But I then added some hi-flow cats and it's now all I wanted it to be - deeper, meaner and no drone. My car is a LEV model so I had to do a bit of messing around with O2 sensor positions but I think I am there now. Once again if you are after a no drone and "exotic" sounds whilst still been able to hear induction, Zero Drone is the one. Larini was the dronemeister.

In that exhaust comparison video, the Larini car was Lankstarr's old one, which was used as the template for that exhaust - so his was a one-off and had no cats. I did a Larini GB where we got the exhausts for buttons (<£500) and they were OK - I never really noticed any drone to worry about, though the exhaust did need a bit of welding after a couple of years as Kaz pointed out during a health check. If I was going to buy a new exhaust on an NSX now, I'd probably go for one of Ary's ZD affairs.

Though VanceHu's bel canto does sound nice (look on Youtube).

that sounds like direct header cut out or straight pipe ... not at all refined or optimized ... a bit like my TR6 with the Muffler completely removed ...

I have noticed people wait for the car to be started, I also find that when at traffic lights people are asking for you to rev your engine to hear the exhaust note for which I am glad I have a decat exhaust system in place (you can hear it here on start up "NSX Start up" (http://youtu.be/gkx4OCYCsJ8)) . Supercars of today are louder and in more and more cases have an artificially enhanced exhaust note (like the Jaguar F type) so to unleash the sound potential of our cars is a must imho.

I would love to try a straight through exhaust for the NSX. I have noticed a lot of straight pipe exhausts at supercar meets on Ferraris, Lambos and C63 AMG's and they sound absolutely amazing!

I drove an NSX with straight pipes. It was a red one which had some mods to make it more like a type-r. It was for sale in the summer last year. It was so loud it was just about undrivable in a respectable area, even pootling along.

Once for a tunnel run I ran an unsilenced Y pipe and it was epic, but not something one could drive everyday. I also made a spaghetti proto no mufflers using F430 Tailpipes, I believe it was sold off by Dave when I sold him my last car, it was also very nice, but totally unusable. Unless one goes to valvetronic, it is pretty much a case of finding a due medium between volume and drivability IMHO.

AR, what was your set up for those videos? Was the exhaust the 'production' version or an earlier prototype? Also what headers were fitted and were the cats installed or by pass pipes used?

I have a Taitec exhaust fitted to my 2005 NSX and I love it. Took the car out Boxing day and it sounded gorgeous in the cold crisp air!

Not at all AR its just every time anybody asks for advice about exhaust recommendations you always seem to suggest your own, nothing at all wrong with that of course but then isnt that why we have a vendors section?
So don't take it too personal as it's just how it seems to come across.

That's a shame AR because imho if you were known as a recognised vendor/supplier of bespoke NSX exhaust designs then new and old members would naturally contact you first as you're in the UK.
I know I would have done before deciding on the Pride system but didn't know that you existed until installing it and I'm sure I can't be the only NSX owner to have done that before realising.

I have installed a Taitec GTLW over the Xmas break ("oh no, I am going to keep it stock").

First of all installation was super easy, 6 bolts and go. even if you are not a mech master, soak the bolts in WD40 and try the next day.

Second, the sound is amazing up to 4,000rpm, afterwards it quiets down. I was used to my S2000 with test pipe and Spoon N1 exhaust and that was loud all over the tach band! It looks a lot like the Pride exhaust that I saw in this topic.

Third: I know you all want to keep your NSX stock but after you try one with an aftermarket exhaust you will go for one!
