Well I am old so a proper classic seemed appropriate. It's a '69 S2 FHC in Opalescent Maroon, restored in the US in 2006 and imported last year. It's LHD but I wanted factory a/c and you could only get that with LHD cars. As I plan to do some summer euro touring I considered a/c essential and LHD will be useful. The ugly USDM side repeaters (indicators) have already gone.

Here's a pic of E and me. The colour is lighter and more metallic'y in the flesh.

Hmmm... don't think we've met, so I can't base my answer on a physical stereotype. You could be Leslie-Philips-suave or Noel-Edmonds-racey...

OK. Alfa Romeo spider, complete with a "Mrs Robertson" sitting cougar-like in the passenger seat. Or, a Corniche DHC, complete with wife filing for divorce.

More Leslie Philips than Noel old chap :) Most non car peoples ideal classic and often voted "the most beautiful car of all time" but they usually mean the S1's with closed/fared headlamps.

It drives very nicely in an old car way and makes a lovely noise. A few electrical things to tidy up but it's essentially good to go for Goodwood, the Le Mans Classic or any of the numerous events where old bangers (and their cars) are welcomed.

The Ford Racing Puma is going, it's fun but I fancied a proper oldie. It's with 4starclassics (http://www.4starclassics.com/) on commission sale now. The Westfield still isn't finished but I am getting there.

Surprised you haven't got one Paul, given our car choice similarities :)

4.2Ltr, manual (4spd). It has the US twin Strombergs rather than the Euro triple SU's but the engine itself is mechanically identical. In reality they're only 12hp down (at the top end) and you can disconnect the twin plenum emission mechanism to make it pick up more smoothly. You can retrofit the SU's for about £3K but my upgrade money will go (eventually) on a 5 spd gearbox conversion to make it more relaxed on the motorway/autoroute/autobahn/autostrada.

looks a tidy one. my father had a blue hard top back in the 60's, but his father was afraid he get killed in it so he sold it and bought a mini lol.
damm and blast and blast and damm indeed lol. i from time to time remind him how much they are selling for now.

good luck with it, LHD cars get nice extras such as A/C in classics, always good to have.

Hopefully once I have finished on my NSX (very long term) I will be looking for a project to work on in the shape of the De tomaso Pantera GT5. That is one car I just cannot get out of my head!!

The SL is staying, it's 'er indoors's car, at least in theory :) Also you need classic roadster for dawdling along on those rare sunny summer days and balmy evenings :cool:
