Hello everyone

My name is Steve, I work at Honda in Loughborough. I have been given the task to find a Honda NSX to put in our show room to show people how good Honda are. Is there any one that would be interested in having their NSX on display in out show room ? The car would be locked with rope around to stop people getting close. This would be a great way of showing your car off. We have the new Civic Type R, Jazz and HRV coming out this year. plus Civic and CRV face lifts ideally we would like to have the car in the show room for a extended period but that is completely up to the owner. We will let the lucky owner borrow a CRV for the weekend to say thank you.
I am sure you are thinking why don't we just buy one ??? the simple answer because of budgets it's just not feasible to have that sort of money tied up in a show room.
Honda have given us some great cars over the years now they need your help to say "we are back" !!!
Please feel free to inbox me or call me at Honda 0116 230 42 22
Thank you for taking the time to read this post
Regards Steve Armson

I don't think this is Honda UK, just someone from the Loughborough dealership.

Surrender your NSX to them to help them promote their business and they offer the use of a CRV in return! Doesn't sound like much of an offer, Honda UK are usually much more grateful than that.

Hi Thank you for your reply's you are correct I am based the Loughborough show room. All we are looking to do is promote the Honda brand by asking a owner to display there car . we have had a Honda ATV ,and a Honda Fireblade , but never a Nsx in the showroom . The offer of a crv was out of courtesy I am sorry If this as offended anyone as this was not intended

regards steve

Don't worry - we're just amused that Honda has to borrow an old banger from the 1990s to promote itself these days. It kind of sums up what we've all been laughing at for a decade. I'm sure I can find you an ED Civic in a car park somewhere...

It's quite a good idea; add some interest until late 2015-16 when the interesting stuff starts turning up again.

Now a loan of the new NSX seems like a fairer swap!

Not offended :) my cousins supplied car to dealers before to get the punters in. Tho I'm afraid you can't borrow mine as its my daily driver! Over to the garage queens.... :)

As an aside, what are the chances of setting up a club discount for parts with you.... That is something we would ALL be interested in :)

It's nice that HondaUK want the halo of the original NSX to continue to shine on their brand ...... But it would also be nice if they showed their appreciation to the small band of owners by not ripping us off on parts prices. If they want to have the benefit of being able to call on favours like this, the quid pro quo should be to remove the UK mark up over US prices.

That's a very kind gesture. My remark wasn't aimed at this particular dealership or this arrangement. Cooperation and collaboration is always good and it will be nice to have one of our NSXs in a Honda show room.

My remark about being ripped off was directed at Honda's company policy on NSX parts prices in the UK. Overall in the UK we pay about two times the US prices, for example:

Open stay assembly rear (gas strut), 74820-SL0-315 US price for two, £61.19. UK price for two £121.90 - 100% mark up.

Crank pulley, MT, 13811-PR7-A02, US price £150.21, UK price £435.50 - 190% mark up.

If you can find someone who will do it for you, you can even mail order parts from the US, pay the shipping and duty, and still be ahead. How can Honda justify that? We just need to keep that in mind in our dealings with them, and remind them about it from time to time. Who knows, maybe one day they will change their UK pricing policy in recognition of the benefit they get from us keeping these cars on the road.

.... I think you'll find the HUK pricing policy is not exclusive to NSX parts.... Honda parts have always been expensive here, but only the advent of the internet lets us see just how much extra we are charged.

Still, any discount offered is a step in the right direction :)

Hi guys.
Now I'm not by any means defending Honda UK NSX parts prices but I think the stats below speak volumes as to why the States get a far better deal than us as they do on nearly every product that's ever produced in the World.

How Many NSXs Of A Given Type Are There?According to a 2005 Honda new release File:Honda News Release - 2005 - 18000 units.pdf (http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/File:Honda_News_Release_-_2005_-_18000_units.pdf) there were a little over 18,000 NSX's produced worldwide. This was confirmed by Prime User: warrenw, who found a Honda 2007 fact book at the Honda UK website (link no longer works), the worldwide sales by calendar year (not model year) was as follows:

8997 sold in the US
701 sold in Canada
1559 sold in Europe / Middle East / Africa of which just over 400 were sold in the UK
7420 sold in Japan
18685 total sold

I think any offer of a discount should be gratefully recieved even if it is from a dealer.
So thank you Hondauk :)
