Anyone clued in on Honda's corporate politics to parse the news about the sudden change at the top?

See here: http://world.honda.com/news/2015/c150223Management-Changes/index.html?from=r Takahiro Hachigo is the new President and CEO. More info here: http://world.honda.com/news/2015/c150223New-President/index.html - seems to have a lot of USA and other international experience.

The NSX connection is that Takanobu Ito, until now the President was credited with developing the NSX (NA1) but is now being pushed aside.

Publicly, they've implied he's carrying the can for the recent air bag recall that affected quite a few cars, esp. in the US.
I suspect real reason could be generally very poor management:
Deciding to build/design/engineer NSX overseas, during which time the Yen has fallen by about 40% vs. USD. Also, the massively lengthy (costly) gestation periods for NSX, Civic type r halo replacements. The F1 programme looks to be in trouble; OK it's early days, but the company is not used to such high profile engineering fails.
Not surprising all considered, let's hope the new guy's an improvement.
