Crank shaft pulley

I am interested in your views regarding if a new crank shaft pulley should be fitted.
The engine is 15 years old and done 46k miles, the pulley shows no signs of deterioration.

i think most on here would tell you to change it ... miles is not the issue its the age that is going against this particular item.

If it was me i would change it ...

I'm sure Kaz could give you more info that a visibile inspection will not give you

Best advice is to buy a replacement ... lot less cost than this failing on you

As the rubber parts look fine I was hoping there was a test that can be done.

Any ideas on where to buy one? if Kaz says to replace it.

A possible form of insurance from Timing Belt catastrophe is your pulley delaminates!!

Hi Bob, this is also a very sensible upgrade while doing the pulley assy.

Just replace it.
Your crank pulley is MT spec so rpm acceleration/deceleration rate will have big factor addition to the heat, aftermarket header/exhaust, thermal shock, vibration, driving condition/environment, etc that all affect the life-ing.

For your reference, in Japan, we replace it at least every 10 years or 60K miles whichever comes first for normal usage and if using one's NSX on track, at shorter interval.
So far, I never heard of crank pulley failure by following this rule.

As nobby mentioned, it's far cheaper than replacing the bent valve....

It's quite heavy (4.2Kg for MT spec inc. Honda box, you need another box for the delivery) so the delivery charge from Japan will be bit high but again, better than worrying and not knowing when it will fail.
I could include one in my next parts order unless you need it urgently.

I recently had a major service done and imported the parts from SoS in the USA the crank pulley was $260 without postage. If I had not been ordering a load of other parts it would have escaped UK import duty. I found them very reliable and replied to my emails on the same day.

I dont see how that would have happened ... import duty and fees are applicable on any items above 18 pounds i believe.
I have ordered items from SOS at lesser cost than the pulley and get hit by fees both from HMRC and parcelforce as they appear to do the work.
Regardless of charges still probably cheaper than buying from HUK ... they are obscene for this part

I will not even try to order the pulley in Austria. If one brake disc is 550 Euros here, the pulley probably is 1050 ...

They charged me 45 Euros for a cabin air filter of my mums Jazz. Don't know what they smoke at Honda Europe but apparently it doesn't do any good ...
