Hello,
I removed the cracked expansion tank from my 92 today and found a possible reason for the cracking of the expansion tanks.
The mounting is solid. I have two expansion tanks here. Both broken at the same position. Right next to the bracket nearest to the airbox. It looks like somehow the bracket gets ripped out the tank over time.

When I removed the bolts I could see the metal bracket below move away and I needed a little force to get the screw back in. Not much though. So if you have different temperature expansion rates of the metal bracket below and the plastic expansion tank you already know a possible cause for the cracks.
Has anyone ever tried mounting the expansion tank with the rubber bushings commonly used on Honda Airboxes? Normally the air filter box is bolted to the chassis with rubber inserts.
