My car has very slight orange peel down both the drivers and passenger side doors and on to the rear wings. The paint thicknesses are all similar all over the car at around 170-180microns, does this indicate that the car has had paintwork done or could this be original paint?

I have tried to capture as best I can, it looks a lot more obvious in the photos than most of the time when looking at the car TBH, the finish seems very similar on all vertical panels down both sides of the car.

I would appreciate any feedback particularly from people who have seen a lot of the later cars. From what I have read online the standard of the paint finish may have dropped from the early cars to the later ones.

I saw quite a lot of cars with orange peel and I'm not sure if the effect is due to variations of temperature esp. cold.
They may come in perfect finish from the factory but the paint still works over the years.

As you know I have an early 92 model which has a glass like paint finish so to be honest I cannot believe NSX quality control on the later models would ever have allowed yours to be signed off in that condition from the factory.
It will be interesting to hear Kaz's opinion.
As you know I've seen your car Martin in the flesh and as you say you don't really notice it but you do admittedly in the photos.
If it's proved NOT to be a poor body shop spray job, why not approach HUK to try and sort it out with head office as it obviously bothers you and you never know because orange peel cannot in my experience develop over time as goldnsx suggests.
It's always worth investigating, good luck with it anyway.

Well I have owned a 2001, 2003 and a 2005 NA2 and have not had this issue on any of them.
I recall one forum member once saying there were paint problems with late cars on the front bumpers but not orange peel on the rear wings.

Nsx paint is actually very good from the factory. The orange peel can be fixed by means of wetsanding and polishing. A good detailer should be able to do something easily. If not, get a meguiars microfibre cutting pad and some d300 polish and get to work with a dual action polisher!
