I have the chance to buy another quick car up to £30k (pref £25K). Lets say, not another NSX.
I already have the Litchfield or Cosworth supercharged BRZ on the list.
Thoughts please.

Depends what you mean by 'quick' Mark and where you intend to use that 'quickness'? Track, drag racing, traffic light hero?

What's your objective/s? Having fun, everyday use or sunny Sunday's, show car, learning to drive quickly on a track (free added quickness) scope for further performance development, brake, suspension upgrades etc.

There's a great range of potential cars (bike?) for that money, nice position to be in.

A friend of mine is thinking of selling his "toy" car for about £15k

It has a greater power to weight ratio greater than a Veyron and a 0-60 time of less than 2.5 sec, now that's what you call quick.

If interested send me a PM and I will give you his details.

To clarify another car that is as usable as the NSX. I don't track or race. I enjoy the thrill of driving fast, but I want to have the option of using all year round. So the BRZ with the supercharge at280bhp plus is a benchmark. I don't want to spend on massive modification so those mods would have to be in place.

911, Cayman, or M3?

Thanks
Are there particular models of these that are recommended?

It depends on what you want in terms or rawness against pace, and the prices. If you are coming along at the weekend I can tell you all about the 911 and M3s, at least the 996/997 and E36 / E46 models.

Quickness on the road? In that case you don't need massive licence busting bhp, just exemplary handling....for £30k.....
Lotus Evora
Cayman S
Renault Megane Trophy R
Caterham R something
M cars?

If you don't need 4 seats how about a BBR MX5

But it's still an mx5.☹️
Although it would be quicker than your NSX :)

My neighbour and good friend has a GT86 and over the last 2 years of ownership has turned it into one of the finest intelligently modified examples in Britain if not the World.

He paid £20,000 for the car and carried out all the work himself at home on his drive.

Here is his build thread on his forum.

Like a dream to be honest.
He has just had the suspension set up recently and as for performance, unbelievable compared to when he first bought it and I feel sure it feels quicker than my NSX but I would never admit that to him.:)

I think he's planning now to get TRD seats next.

Of course he is going to claim that. They all do. Get him on the track with a few corners and kick his whiteness into infinity. Long live the REDS

You could do a lot worse than a Honda S2000 - compliments the NSX perfectly as it is so different.

Sorry Mark, it's not what he claims it's what I think after having driven it.:(

I'd also suggest looking at the S2k .... Early ones are easily set up to avoid the tail happiness from the factory and later ones have a few tricks added to compliment swift progress. Can be tuned if you feel the need, but really a good set of tyres is all you need to enjoy 8k redline ...

Yeah - set of chassis braces makes it far easier to sense the breakaway points and the car then handles brilliantly. Far sharper and better steering feel than a (stock) 86.

Here's one I prepared earlier:

OK so I love the idea of the s2000. Assuming I can get the best for under £20K what should I be looking for? Im happy to have mods done to enhance the drive. Keep it sub £20k in total. Money then to drive it around europe and stay in the best places.

Or, if the size doesn't matter and can wait a little longer, you may be able to get larger engine version of this one outside of Japan;

A few thoughts:-

FD-series RX7 - they're rising in price, they're among the best drivers' cars to come out of Japan, both in chassis and feedback, the engines are a well-known quantity now in the UK with a few good specialists, and the limited-editions (Type-RA or Spirit would be my starting points) come with 280bhp as standard in a ~1,200kg chassis. If garage space and funds permit, a nice RX7 is very near the top of my personal wish-list.

E46 M3 CS should be within budget still - a little stiff but genuinely engaging chassis (about as throttle-steerable as it gets this side of a Caterham) with an engine close to that in the NSX (not quite so keen on the metallic-sound of the S54 but it's got bags of character). I still rate this as one of the best affordable all-round single-car garage options.

Cayman-R might not be quite in budget now, and may be too close to the NSX in character.

TVR ____ (insert name here depending on budget) - the later Speed-6 cars had the engines largely sorted out and there's specialists who can help, and the only real downside is a complete lack of driver aids. Buick-based V8's refreshingly simple and reliable if used regularly...Griffith starter-motor heat-soak aside! ;)

The girl:
Ms Miki Koyama. 18 - 19years old. Only just applied and passed the ordinary driving license but already competing in the FIA F4 Japan series.
Started competing in Karting from the age of 4 - 5 years old.
Probably, she can drive NSX much faster than any of us on here….

Now let me summarise. Your suggesting that I buy a car that a schoolgirl is shown to be driving like a hooligan and that it is likely that she can drive my NSX faster than me!
Damn Im not sure I can stand ignominy.
Im currently buying a 2000 Insight. Perhaps thats what my life has come to. Bloody schoolgirls!!
