I haven't seen any Type S or Type R in the Japanese market since two years or so. Looks to me like they are kept in firm hands. What prices are they going for nowadays?

I know of one Type S in Japan advertised for 11milion JPY.
it is a 2000 car, having done 58,000 kms.
you can find it on the Japanese site kuruma-ex

There is also a very low mileage 1997 S-Zero on Pistonheads. Make sure you are sitting down when you look at the price!
i think that one is destined for an investor's collection rather than to be driven regularly.

There have been several Rs, S and S zeros for sale in Japan in the last 2 years or so, prices are very high. S zeros are the rarest but I have seen 2 in the last 2 years including the one currently on pistonheads and the other in a showroom in Japan in Autumn 2015.

I am aware of several Rs imported to the UK in the last 2/3 years - I have one a NA2 R imported 12 months ago.

The S zero NZNick refers to at is 230,000 euro and this is more than £260k on the road in the UK, the same dealer in Singapore has a low mileage NA2 R POA but it was previously listed at Euro 210,000 so a bit of bargain compared to the S Zero!! I think low mileage NA1 Rs will be obtainable for around half these prices.

I was looking on: http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/usedcars/HONDA/NSX/

Have the R/S gone to Singapur? Whenever I saw an R or S there was no price just 'ASK' or 'make an offer'. It would be interesting what kind of money they are looking for.

So to estimate prices for the UK a rough guide is:

1. convert to pounds with current exchange rate
2. add £5k for transport and shipping
3. Add 10% to the total of 1 and 2 and then add 20% Vat to that total.
4. Then you will need to pay for UK handling at the port and registration and probably want to get a good check over done plus a service and possibly timing belt/water pump, change. Say another £3 to 5k.

So taking the S at about 15m yen as an example the rough total is about £155k.

Shawn, thank you for the calcs. Dumb question, but how do I know the price - does 1480.0 in the link below equate to 14.8 million yen?

I'm very happy with my base NSX, but after watching Jethro's review of the R I'm desperately praying for £ to strengthen against the yen

Yes I believe that is how to interpret the numbers, and why I started with 15m.

1996 Type R for sale (https://loperaio.co.jp/detail/8091) - low kms, but quite the asking price! equating to 172k GBP, and that's before shipping and taxes etc. as discussed further up the thread.

The sill plate number for this one is #471, so one of the final few made?

It's amazing how prices are continuing to rise and I guess will continue to do so. Not many come up for sale in Japan these days. Doesn't matter for me though planning on being buried in it :-)
