Disappointing story

This year I have done some modifications - like this: Os giken Clutch, Os giken LSD with 4.40 final ratio and Tein shock absorbers.
I bought a track day in the Czech Republic - Motodrom and in Slovakia - Slovakia Ring
I booked the hotel I persuaded my wife and sent the kids on holiday. I ordered a tow truck and got on the road ...
My NSX refused to cooperate - entering the tow truck came fail EPS, # 22 reset with the clock fuse. I started the engine EPS lamp went out and thought it was OK. But by turning the steering wheel, the EPS light shone again with the same fail # 22.
I only had 2 hours to repair - later my trip made no sense.

Has my NSX offended me for modificatioons ?

Kaaz described the fault for my driver model (..... 023) burned relay contacts.
I ordered this in the USA with enlarged contacts (delivered time approx. 2 weeks).
On the web I suspect that the pins are in line with the standards. I decided to put another - from the Renault 70 Amper- (it does not like you Kaaz?
Unfortunately, a diode was inserted in the trigger circuit. I missed the direction of the diode and damaged the transistor - it took me 6 hours to find this fault.

It was difficult to solder the relay - I made a special tip

I dismantled the relay housing - one of the lower corners was burnt contacts the second as new13060 13061

I measured the resistance of the coils (OEM and aftermarket) and compared with the catalog.13065
13062 13063

The aftermarket Relay was larger by 30mA. The coil transistor was on 1 Amper Current ( Catalog)

But the difference in contact area was satisfactory

It's late (I'm going to sleep) but one question bother me - why the other of the relays (the good ones) during the switch vibrate the contacts (3-4 stroke)

Regards
Mario

P.S.A little anger passes me

Next occurence (frustrating) with the Air Condition Panel - reading the blog Kaaz noticed that he often repairs the AC Panel. Two years ago I bought from the USA (Prime)as a reserve.
And my checked - no leakage capacitors. I thought it did not concern me. This year I bought from Chritian ATR only Front panel witch Celsius (We were Acura in Farenheit). When the ACC panel was opened - I nearly fainted - four capacitors poured out. It's a lesson for me that I ignored the Kaaz hints (absolutely replace all the capacitors). Now please Kaaz as far as possible which electronic components I should still check.

In one year coincided - only faults !!!(clutch,EPS,ACC Panel)My Acura is 1996.

P.S.
During the rapid acceleration I noticed misfire in exhaust(This is the cause of the change final ratio to 4,40) ?

All cars need some attention after 20 years. As they equipped the NSX with quite a lot of electronics more things need to be addressed after these years. I don't dare to imagine todays rolling computers after even 10 years. When they will be exported to Africa all the electronics will be ripped out of the car. Ok, a little bit OT. :)

Well, 20 years for a CCU is not bad at all, they normally begin to fail after 12-15 years or so (with the quality of caps they used originally). You need to replace ALL caps. And that's better done BEFORE the unit shows suspicious signs.

I have more and more free time ....
I decided to do some outstanding work ...

1.Alternator color change

I dismantled the alternator and painted the aluminum casing at the factory with stove varnish paint

Yes you are right.
I also gave the valve covers to this factory - but unfortunately I did not get the original effect.

13879

13881

(I spent a lot of hours working on cleaning).

13880
I bought American paint (wrinkle plus) and try it myself. By heating a hot gun, you can influence the process of creating wrinkles so that you get closer to the original.
Unfortunately, varnishing is my Achilles heel.

Hi everyone.
I'd like to share with you my first ever NSX timing belt replacement some excitement, some uncertainty

I experienced some unpleasant moments when Pinch did not enter the hole (I remembered that Kaaz wrote to rely on the marks on the wheel and treat Pinch as reference points - indicators)

13901

13902by the way maybe someone will tell me why this wheel is heavier than others?

139031390413905 and turning...turning...turning

hm .. now belt tension
I was planning to buy an ultrasonic device. But again I referred to Kaaz's instructions. Following the Manuals gives the impression of a loose belt. Thanks again Kaaz.

Valve clearance
13911
I have to confess to you ...
Reading the Kaaz Bloog: Kaaza often said that "marthon - valve clearance" lasted 4 hours. I thought a slight exaggeration. (Sorry Kaaz) But I started today at 1P.M. and I left before 9 P.M....
Exhalation valves caused me the biggest trouble.
I bought leafs in dimensions 0.15 0.18 0.20.
I chose this strategy.
For inlet valves
0.15 were supposed to slide in quite lightly
0.18 could not
For exhaust valves
0.18 were supposed to slide lightly
0.20 could not

Some changed after tightening with a torque wrench. But I eliminated this problem by tightening a little harder after adjustment. (And later with a torque wrench)

1391213913 13914 unfortunately I did not check the compression before adjustment as recommended by Kaaz (because I bought the engine as a spare) but I will do it after mounting it maybe this year

At Goldi's suggestion, I didn't paint the wrinkle spray valve cover

Sounds like sysphean work and yes the valves are prone for this. :D
I never retorque the nuts after adjusting as you've seen that the clearance CAN change. With the correct clearance I torque the nut by hand to the amount I think is about what it needs WHILE HOLDING the screw in place with a slight force in the opposite direction (counterclockwise) of the nut, so the screw doesn't move with the nut. Check the clearance and repeat until it's right. 20 Nm is a little bit high for this nut I think. I'm at around 15-18 Nm I think. In the last step I check all the nuts if they have more than 15 Nm. Saves you plenty of time, esp. if the engine is in the car.
And always remember: loud valves are happy valves.

I am grateful for your Tipps Goldi. As always, you can count on you. Unfortunately I don't know what "sysphean work" is. I didn't know this: loud valves are happy valves.
I have one more technical problem to solve. I got from the "uncle from America" KW suspensions lift system dedicated to Mercedes SLS black series. I will send e-mail correspondence with KW engineer. I want to mount the Tein Circuit Master Type RA

Hallo,

Wichtige fur mich was sollte sein nominal hubhohe vom Zylinder ? ang.Important for me what should be the nominal stroke height of the cylinder?

KW answer:Ein Stoßdämpfer benötigt einen Hub von mindestens 55mm. Ihr Dämpfer hat zu wenig Aushub und würde bei HLS oben kaputt gehen.
ang.A shock absorber needs a stroke of at least 55mm. Your damper has too little excavation and would break at HLS above.

Mario :
Hallo,
mit welche KW Stossdampfer wird diese Probleme losen ?

kennen Sie mir Erklaren

Sisyphus is a person of the greek mythology. The myth goes like this: he rolled a heavy round stone up a hill. But whenever he was about on the top of the hill the stone rolls back and he has to roll it up again but never finishes to do so. In short: a neverending story.

Not clear about your suspension work you intend to do.

in manulas I found two ways to check the belt tension (one requires a special tool) the other measurement.
13952
There is also a third option for frequency measurement
13953
13954
Unfortunately, my favorite brand of the tool manufacturer in its manual does not give the frequency for Honda NSX. Does anyone know where to find this data?

There's no tool needed.
