NSX rear bumper beam

Recommissioning the 1993 car (manual coupe) and the guys tell me the rear bumper beam is likely to be an MOT advisory. I want to address it now; surprised to see it was steel, but never really thought about it.

Anyway, a search tells me that later cars had an aluminium rear bumper beam. STMPO used to do one, too, but the Website seems to have gone. For my car reg, Lings lists a complete rear bumper beam assembly (not the beam on its own) at £600+, but says "unavailable".

So... does the later aluminium one fit earlier cars with/without modification, and do we know the part number for ordering it, or are there good quality third party alternatives?

IIRC there is a Carbon Fibre third party alternative, because of the item we are talking about the "weave" does not have to be perfect so the item is not that expensive compared to Carbon Fibre bits that you see.

I assume that this is part of the cars crash protection / safety system, so would there be insurance implications with going for a 3rd party component?

Maybe. There's also a carbon fibre beam for the front on the aftermarket. I don't want to have a crash with that one installed. Steel bends while carbon fibre breaks.

Yes, the CF one (or the light weight STMPO alu one) makes sense for track use, but there's no point complicating a possible insurance claim with a non-OEM part here. Looks like I might be sorted now, thanks to a forumite. And there are a couple of backup sources advised by Kaz. Thanks all.

I've been offered one with a slightly damaged end. If the MOT guy were to put that as an advisory, I would be in no better situation than I am with the current steel one. Will find out how picky he is on Monday and let everybody know.

Yes all good condition, no damage. Although from checking I believe I only have the alloy one available, not steel
