What do you do if you've bought one of the lowest mileage NA1 manual NSXes earlier this year but not driven it? A car that has done less than 500 miles in the last 5 years? Pick it up from Plans Performance and take it on a 1000 mile whistle stop tour to Scotland and back, that's what😀

I'll be posting pics hopefully and updates. Currently waiting in Basel Mulhouse airport for the 7 am to Gatwick. I've even picked some alt Schule tunes....

Good to see an NSX getting used! Wish I could use mine more often, but kids and work seem to be getting in the way!

By the way, no pic.

Picked her up at Plans today, a bit nervous as it's been a while since I've driven one but all was good, controls tight, gears slick and engine free revving.

A couple of questions re the NSX stereo and apologies for having the audacity to muffle the engine:

1) Offside speaker not as loud as nearside- is that my hearing, intelligent Honda thinking or a duff speaker
2) can anyone see the radio / cd display in daylight with the side lights on?

Then popped into the dark side for a bit at Gmund. Finally at 5 got to The Kings Arms Richmond for a sleep and emergency beer:)

Off to Fort William tomorrow via the A66 and A82. Never done the 66..

Will try to post pics but it's a nightmare with iPad photos...:(

Assuming you have the balance control set to the central position, the sound levels should be equal from both speakers. Could be a sign of the head unit needing some attention to save it from eating itself - see Kaz's blog for more. Might be one of the in-door amplifiers or speakers - Kaz's blog has examples of what can be done.
Again, with regard to the stereo display, there are posts on here (I think from Kaz) about illumination levels and what can be done to improve the situation.
Enjoy the road trip!

Congrats on buying such a beautiful example, you won't be disappointed, in fact you've picked by far the fastest colour ever made so you should fully expect to get to your destination before you know it.:)

1) I don't know if you're aware but each speaker has its own integrated amplifier and they are prone to faults in the way you describe so best to discuss with Graham while still under warranty, they can be fully serviced and overhauled if necessary.

2) This has always been a bug bear with me over the last 20 years, maybe time now to consider your first subtle upgrade, DRL's. 😎

Enjoy your adventure, your car has been patiently waiting 25 years for someone to lovingly stretch its legs. 👍😃

+1. Really nice one.

If you install DRL on a very stock car take your time to choose the best shape of DRL to suit the stock front with fog lights. I've seen horrible looking DRLs fitted on nice NSXs looking like 'black shoes/white socks' (not here on the forum) you certainly don't want to duplicate. :D I'd hesitate with DRLs on a completely stock NSX but I have them too but mine is not stock anymore...A decade ago I've cut the illumination wires to the modules and installed a switch in between to control the illumination on my own. Also not everybodys cup of tea...:)

Congrats.

Do you get low volume from the speaker all the time (tape (!), CD & radio) or just when you use the CD player?

My one big issue with the NSX - it is not possible to read the stereo, A/C or clock displays in daylight especially with sunshine and the lights on. There are mods that you can make to help with this but the standard setup assumes that if your lights are on it is dark so the displays are dimmed!

You have made an excellent choice and will not regret it - I'm into my 8th year of ownership and it is the best car choice I have ever made.

As to your Highland sojourn I have been all over this stunning region and know it very well. May I suggest that instead of the A82 which is infested with tourists even at this time of year you go a little further north and take the A890. This is the 75 mile road that runs north of Inverness through Garve across the wilds of the Highlands to Kyle of Lochalsh. A superb driving road, quiet even in mid-summer with superb scenery. Other than the eagles, you will have the road virtually to yourself. Yes, you will miss out on Loch Ness but it is only another loch.

Have a great trip (and if you are near Aberdeen, let me know).

Good idea - have fun with the new toy!

I have a stainless steel thing on my wrist, which solves the daytime clock problem. I guess the S2000 got me used to that, since the clock is still in a box somewhere in Tochigi.

The radio has a DAB convertor, so that display is irrelevant.

Though if I do wish to read the orangey bits, a brief hit of the 'day lamps' button on the console allows one to do so. Then turn the day lamps back on.

It's all relatively hassle-free, compared to modern cars with their bewildering displays of useless information.

Good question-it was just when I was listening to CDs. I'll try with radio next. As an aside there are still 6 cds in it from the previous owner. Three Robbie Williams / Take that and some great collections. If the previous owner doesn't claim them I'm 'aving them especially as one I had but lost

Due to the music taste of the former owner he must have been <25. :)

Managed to upload this picture so far... it's like trying the most frustrating thing...

Anyway this is on the A82 near Glen Coe and Glen Nevis. I've got others by Loch Lomond and on the A66.

Thoughts: Three roads today - the A66, M74 and A82. I had to stick to the latter due to logistical reasons but will try the recommended alternative next year.

Within 2 miles of the A66 I had more fun than the entire previous day. Much clearer roads north of Leeds basically. Steady driving interspersed with bonkers engine howl overtaking. Still mostly sensible behavior due to the constant speed camera brainwashing in Switzerland.

A82 great around Loch Lomond and better beyond. Have done over 400 miles without refueling. As I re-acquainted myself with the NSX it became almost spiritual and driving roads like the A66 in relentless gloom added to the atmosphere.

Couple of random observations. Leeds south is very congested. Looking at the SatNav constantly does not speed up journey time. There are more car spotters on bridges than I remember.... even with hi vis jackets and long lense cameras. The Grog and Gruel in Fort William where I am writing this is full of German speakers. Home from home....

Quite likely it is not the Honda branded original CD changer? If I am correct, this can be fairly easily rectified; for some reason Honda decided to switch two of the pins around in the DIN lead. I can't remember which two off the top of my head but switching the two could cure your issue. I had the same with my car when I bought it.

If you're up in the west Highlands, this road is worth a visit...

It's the A832 heading NW on the run towards Kinlochewe, which is just off the top of the aforementioned A890. To be fair, a lot of the roads around there are beautiful...to look at and to drive...

Climbed or rather walked Ben Nevis today and got the 500 mile drive to look forward to tomorrow :( back to drop the car off on the South Coast. No new pictures as I can't get anything to upload any more. Boo. Thanks for the road suggestions and I'll definitely be back. Really got to do the Islands and Highlands tour I've been meaning to do for decades. Swapped the cds over so Robbie is no more and looking forward to coming back.

As an aside, is there a Honda / NSX presence in the NEC Classic Car Show in November..?

It appears to be a trade show rather than a club show. Prices for floor space are a little...steep...

Sorry for going off topic but have you considered a bluetooth tape adaptor? My cd player works fine but I got fed up with it jumping it seemed over every bump! So I bought one of these and I never looked back. Providing your tape deck still works fine, which luckily mine did.
