I've been after an iPod connection in my NSX for a while - the car did come with a Grom Aux connector which functioned OK, but this was removed by a mechanic while troubleshooting another issue. As I've had the cabin panels off while troubleshooting the alarm system I thought I might as well try to hook up a new box, so I ordered a Grom IPD4 box as a replacement.
However, neither the boot CD changer cable nor the cabin cable seem to recognise the new box. I know the radio was out of the dash at the time the first Grom box was installed, so I'm working on the principle that the first box was originally connected to the back of the head unit and the CD changer cable was not reconnected when it was removed . . .
So it seems one way or another I need to access the back of the head unit, and I've fallen at the first hurdle - the ashtray absolutely will not release from the dash. I've pushed up the lid, I've pulled, I've wiggled, but the ashtray is steadfastly refusing to pop out and expose those two vital screws underneath.
Anyone experienced this? Any tips? Any conceivable way that the ashtray could get locked in place and not want to release?
