OK, have had some free paid time and Internet access so I thought about doing some research on UK NSX's.
So far I have around 150 NSX records.
What I am looking for is.....
Reg Number, Manufacture year, Colour, Engine, Gearbox, Number of Owners, Last Owner Change. Then any other useful information.
The reason I have chosen those items are because they all already in the free public domain via basic registration checks.
For any NSX's that are currently for sale or have sold recently I am also documernting prices.
Anyway if this is something you want to help me with then please do.
The information will currently be solely held by me but may in the future be available to verfied owners or prospective buyers.
Or extracts based on direct questions may be available.
Anyway let me know what you think and if you are willing to provide the information.

I have long thought this would be a great idea for a low volume car like the NSX. I know the Lotus Carlton folk have a kind of database.
Excellent work Simon. If you need help with legwork etc and think I can help don't hesitate to let me know, as I will be back one day!

Good Idea, Finally find out how many are left in UK!
Are you going to add are usernames to this as well to show how many are NSXCB members?

Except for those that have a somewhat 'chequered' history, anyway.
It really will separate the desirable 'club' cars from the dross.

It may be worth contacting Honda UK, they either may already have some of this info or may be interested in it once completed.
I'm sure it would be good to touch base with Honda as at some point they will build a new NSX and I'm sure some of us would be interested in it, and they may want to ask our opinions.

It is also surprising how many have ***NSX*** plates a good 75% I would imagine of the ones I have found so far.

Are you collecting all VIN numbers for the cars? The trouble with getting just plates (if that's what you are doing) is that they are often changed for a private plate as you pointed out in another post.
I know mine has had 3 or more plate changes.
simonprelude

Currently only plates (with previous plates as well where known) as the VIN numbers are not in the public domain. However any information that people are willing to provide to be honest.

That is a good point - it could lead to considerable confusion, if the same plate ends up on a similar car.
I'm not surprised so many have NSX plates - whereas so many personalised plates look tacky/naff/don't go there, one that's so easily made & appropriate to the car looks cool. Think my favourite is probably V6 NSX!

Simon,
Would be interested in the detail and happy to offer help, though I think you have most of the research tools to hand  .
When I was researching before buying I tried to obtain information on numbers, colours, models etc from both Ivan and HUK. HUK offered no assistance but Ivan provided a spec sheet showing the various models/changes plus these numbers;
UK Sales to date:
Year Sales
1991 125
1992 41
1993 47
1994 19
1995 55
1996 38
1997 35
1998 10
1999 17
2000 11
2001 8
2002 23"
So thats 429 plus the 12 specials = 441. Add in 03/04/05/55 and it might be as many as 500 total sales?
Ref my car I think you know most of the details and S2 NSX has been on the car from new I believe.

May I suggest probably the most important details to get hold of are the ones that have donated their parts for a worthy cause. That way we will have a better idea of how many are left and can see if they ever try to make a comeback tour

There is a massive breakers yard in the South East near me, Called G.W.Bridges. I would think most write offs in the south east go there judging by the size of the place. Might be worth a call, but from experience, they are not the most helpful people working there.

128 is not the number of NSX owners here.
It's the number of members that have posted more than 10 times, and have been here longer than a week.
Nothing to do with owning an NSX.

P60 NSX is a metalic yellow 1997 targa tiptronic. Currently sitting outside the Honda dealership in Cambridge. Supposedly previously owned by Eddie Jordan.
I have an appointment to take her for a test drive on Friday. Hopefully it will be a better experience than my only previous NSX test drive (Red auto import located in Bedford) that seemed somewhat gutless.
And no I am not restricting myself to test driving autos - they just happen to be the only ones close enough to where I live to test drive. Was gutted to find out that the yellow one is tiptronic as I am really looking forward to driving a manual.

Seems a pretty good buy ££ wise, however I am yet to drive an Auto / Tiptronic so can't really comment apart from what Honda say on paper.
I would be surprised if it actually were that slow, but I really don't want to be proved wrong.

If you have counted mine, maybe you shouldn't as it is a car from Jersey I don't know if it was included in UK sales.
If the yellow NSX is Jordan's then Norton Way should of serviced it, you can check with them if it is or not, and its history.

Yes, more of a NSX's in the UK anyway rather than against actual UK sales, that is just in there as a guide. JDM cars included, however I would guess Jersey would be included, I think one of the last 12 has gone out that way anyway.

This one was for sale last year from a "Trade" dealer near Stevenage.
It's padle auto, with beige interior, and with the original black roof painted yellow. Was in very nice condition, but vendor said it was an import hence the strange colour combination. May not be the same as the one at Cambridge, as the reg is different.
Nice car though.

It does have just over 76,000 miles.
As for the reg plate I know that they have just changed it.
As for performance I will let you know tomorrow afternoon. Sales guy is making all sorts of promises about the performance - I will endevour to verify during the test drive. :)
Interesting thing is that I thought the 'paddle' auto had paddles (as in a pair of) instead it has a single control leaver on the left side of the steering wheel.

Hi Simon, I know the information you've used there comes directly form the DVLA records but at least one of those YR2000 listed cars is wrong.
Mine was imported in 2000 and for some reason registered as "New at first registration" by the DVLA and given an "X" registration.
It actually rolled of the Tochigi production line in May 1997 and was first registered in Japan. It currently wears N5 XSR.

As I was in Cambridge today I took 10 minutes out to crawl along Newmarket road:mad: to the Honda dealership. The Yellow was sitting outside looking quite nice. The sales guy clocked me pulling in and was soon outside telling me how it was once owned by Eddy Jordan, was quite a performer etc. etc (why would it be an advantage to have been owned by EJ, I dont know) Anyway, It's not the same yellow as in my previous post, and it does not have the Jordan logos. I only really had a quick look, but noticed the rear spoiler was not the same shade of yellow, and the roof had some poor paint around it's edge (maybe it was black once?)

Well I had my test drive in the yellow tip targa. Huge fun and left a smile on my face. :)
As mentioned previously I have taken the Red auto import in Bedford for a test drive some time ago and found it lacking in umph and generally not very exciting. Given the comments in many reviews stating that the tiptronic is worse than the auto for robbing power I was expecting this car to be unexiting as well (but I like the looks of the NSXs so jumped at the chance to test drive it anyway).
I will say that the tiptronic seems to be an excellent GT car where I have been expecting the NSX to be more of a race car. Please note that I have not driven a manual at all so this comment is based only on my very limited experience. That said I really loved the experience. In the little bit of winding road that I was on the tip did let me feel more in control of the revs (and hence power) of the car. Get it cruising on the A14 (yes that can happen from time to time) and Auto was the best setting. And in town the auto setting was very nice.
All in all a relaxed enjoyable experience very much as I would expect from a GT. Felt like I could drive all day long in it - with the little issue of the sales guy not being too keen on that idea until I have paid for it being something of a hinderance :).
So overall loads of fun but in ways that I had not expected. The car didn't meet my expectations - it simply redefined them.
Now I just need to figure out how to sell the wife on the car. :(
Oh and a note to Greybloke. Your visit yesterday really made an impact on everyone at the dealership. The receptionist was excited that they had seen you stop by - 2nd NSX that they have seen in ages (the yellow one they are selling being the first). Gary, the sales guy, kept talking about your visit and your car as well.
One issue I did have with Gary is that when I queried the yellow roof (am I correct in thinking that the NSXs didn't get the body coloured roof until 2002?) he stated that the body coloured roof was introduced around 1995. Can anyone tell me if that is correct?
Regards,
Richard (still without NSX but now counting his pennies and wondering if the kids would be willing to throw in their pocket money as well :) ).

So it probably is a factory paint job? I did take a close look at it - given that Greybloke pointed out that it looked strange. To me it looked like the rubber seal had pulled back a bit and left some residue behind. Doesn't leak though - it was raining for much of the test drive (and never had the rear end try to overtake the front even once - unlike the S2000 that I test drove a year ago).
I have already told my wife that she needs to take it for a test drive. Guess I'll see how it goes.

Body coloured roofs were available before 2002. Targas are, but I don't know when coupes changed over. In the States the body coloured coupe was introduced before here, but then they also stopped selling coupes in the States.
My 1992 NSX coupe has a body coloured roof though, from the factory:p , but mine is an exception.

Simon, I don't know whether you have mine listed. It is a 1991 Manual Red/Black. Originaly a Northern Ireland car (i.e. still classified as a UK car) (FJI 5000), imported into the UK in 1995 (plate 278 UN). The plate was changed to NSX 5 (at the cost of £6000!) in 1996. The second owner had it from 1995 to 2005. The third from 2005-2006, and I bought it earlier this month with the mileage at 33,800.

As we have all said on the other thread, it's really sad to see such a clean car smashed up.
However, whilst we're adding cars to the database, Matt and I nearly bought an 04 3.2; stolen, then converted to a drift car then (and we're only guessing) reposessed and sent to the insurance companies salvage yard.
The registration is SB04 KRX. The car WAS silver. currently white and blue.

However, whilst we're adding cars to the database, Matt and I nearly bought an 04 3.2; stolen, then converted to a drift car then (and we're only guessing) reposessed and sent to the insurance companies salvage yard.

Simon,
Can we see the database? Mine is a 1991 red/black manual. 5 owners last changed September 2006. I have the engine and tranny numbers somewhere. Did you want this info? What about the NSX number? Do you know how many there are in the uk at the moment?

Now that some work has been done, I don't really know what to do with it.
Afterall it contains 189 NSX number plates.
There are less than 500 UK NSX's and probably less than 500 NSX's left in the country, I guess more have been scrapped than imported.
So probably still less than half way there and no time at the moment to do anything.

I was surprised by the number of Yellows and Oranges, I was expecting the numbers to be reversed. Usually a press car colour generates interest and popularity....

Don't forget though that Orange only came out in 1997, there are only 2 post 1997 Yellows that I know of. Yellow was available from 1994 or 1995.

Saw two NSX's on my travels today! Both at a dealer in Devon.
One was a clean yellow 96 owned by NSXexeter.
The other was a facelift model in silver with possibly the worst paint finish I've seen in a long time. The reg was S55 NSX. For a low mileage late example, it was pretty rough around the edges.

Hi! From memory it was back in the mid 90's when I owned it, cant remember the exact year but should have something on file if required. I also added the large rear brake light, that fits in the spoiler, to the car back then. I also cant remember the exact place I bought it, but I obtained it privately from a guy somewhere around London, and brought it back to N.Ireand.
Here are some pics, they were taken with a normal camera so not great quality as I had to scan them to put them up....I didnt have a digital camera back then lol!!

Nope, Mr Flemke owns the other Charlotte Green NA1 NSX-R.
L421 WMR also appeared on a Type S in the JDM brochure for the "new" (NA2) NSX. Pic attached...
I believe the concensus is that the registration L421 WMR is owned by Honda UK and the white NSX-R that wore it for a while either lives at Honda's UK training centre where it get constantly dissassembled and reassembled by trainee HUK technicians or was sent back to Japan :(

Does anyone know the Midnight Purple 3.2 Targa Manual (http://www.nsxcb.co.uk/showthread.php?1514-NSX-Database/page16) on this list (post 157 chart) has a black interior? Does the car still exist?

I'm not aware of a 3.2 T in the UK. Hagasan (Gary) has the nicely modded Targa with black. I cant recall if the recently face-lifted MP is a Targa, but it does have black interior. Both to the best of my knowledge, both are 3.0 models.
I didn't think MP was available after 1997, ergo it would only be on NA1 cars?
FWIW, just dug out the 2003 sales brochure, and the 7 colours listed as available (and available interior combos, Black or Tan) were:
Berlina Black (BorT)
Long Beach Pearl Blue (B)
Sebring Silver Metallic (BorT)
Grand Prix White (BorT)
Indy Yellow Pearl (B)
New Imola Orange Pearl (B)
New Formula Red (Ascari Red) (BorT)

That sounds like the UKDM brochure, which was written by Henry Ford*.
There was a huge variety of colours and options on the JDM right up 'til the end, so it's entirely possible there is such an import.
*and Honda wonders why no-one buys their cars in the EU. The Vages offer stupid levels of options and they are apparently worshipped over here.

It could be worse . . . It could be that wonderful Acura combo of Imola with orange leather:eek::(

I hadn't come across the NSX database thread before, so I was very surprised to see a 3.2 in Midnight Pearl listed, hence my question. If this car does exist, and has a black interior, it would be my dream car aside from a Type S in the same colour scheme..... Any details would be greatly appreciated.

There are a few UK midnight Pearl targas in the UK. No idea if I still have the database or not. I did load a copy on here somewhere once.

A couple of points:
1. You've missed my car. It's a LBB couple with black interior, first registered under RY04YYT.
2. The '55 plate LC55 SKJ (currently for sale) is a targa, and not a coupe.

There's also;
S55 NSX Sebring silver/black int. / man coupe. There's a black/black 03 manual targa (belongs to a guy in the SW).
There's my old 2002 LBB/black manual that went to HK, DK52 VNA. There's also GX52 ZGU; the LBB I killed at the track. Rebuilt I believe.
Cheers.

Very interesting thread. Any chance of adding all the NA2s to the database ie including the pop-ups such as mine? I am especially interested in the targas since by my reckoning there are only around 12 in the country pop-up and facelift roughly six of each. But a full database would be very good to have.

Very interesting thread. Any chance of adding all the NA2s to the database ie including the pop-ups such as mine? I am especially interested in the targas since by my reckoning there are only around 12 in the country pop-up and facelift roughly six of each. But a full database would be very good to have.
The list I sent over to NSX-FAN has some chassis / engine numbers. Easy to tell if it's a coupe / targa / automatic from the list.

T2 had beige leather that now resides in E1 ... It's also no longer on the road but a dedicated race car, or will be when David and Rob finish the project ....
P26 has blood red leather and is the best shade of grey ;0)
S5 is now on a facelift 54 plate
S21 is the slow 98T in Red
And there's another Grey one, black trim with few mods ...
keep up the detective work,

Something that can be simplified on the NA2 table is, all NA2 cars are manual!
About the only post 2002 Auto I knew of is SG53APZ which is an NSX F-Matic in Long Beach Blue.
There are a fair few post 1997 cars but as you say all are declared as NA1.
NA1 is anything with a 3.0 engine (which includes all Auto's) NA2 is anything with a 3.2 engine which the change was made in 1997 on manual cars only.
Senninha

There is also a Sebring auto on an 02 or 03 plate ... was advertised late last year ...
Sudesh

I think what needs to be clarified is.
NA1 and NA2 do not designate year/type the way some think.
NA1[3.0] and NA2[3.2] is to do with engine spec, allot of us already know this but a huge amount don't.
That's why I like to call them facelift and pre-facelift most of the time.
So you would have:
Pre-facelift - NA1 - manual, 1990 until 1997
Pre-facelift - NA2 - manual, 1997 until 2001
Pre-facelift - NA1- auto, 1990 until 2001 [f-matic was added around 96- but still NA1]
Facelift - NA2 - Manual, 2002 until 2005
Facelift - NA1 - Auto, 2002 until 2005.

It's a common misconception, not entirely helped by Honda themselves, eg., 4G 'Ludes are BBs 1-4 and 5Gs are BBs 5-9...
There were some 'Tegs like that, I think.

So if I read it right, there are only 4 2001 NSXs?
How can I tell if mine is the last-registered pop up NSX in the UK? Only for interest.
BTW mine is no longer 46GT - I sold it to a friend who wanted it for his Bentley Continental GT (we agree to disagree in terms of what makes a good car). But I'm on the hunt for a new number, will advise when it has been sourced

Thats 4 known to the current membership left in the UK. Somewhere there is a list of NSX's sold year by year, that could give a clue to how many 2001's there actually are. I'll see if I can find it.
EDIT: Here is the sales list, year on year, copied from another post. So there are 8 x 2001 cars but obviously no breakdown of NA1 & NA2.
Year Sales
1991 125
1992 41
1993 47
1994 19
1995 55
1996 38
1997 35
1998 10
1999 17
2000 11
2001 8
2002 23 (sold so far)
2003 ?
2004 ?
2005 ? (But we know they sold at least 12)

Assuming yours used to be V6NSX then no, Y1NSX is 3 chassis numbers higher, not sure about the Targa's as they have a different chassis number range.

Ah thanks all. Maybe mine is the last pop up manual targa then!

You almost certainly get that one!
And whilst I would like Y1 to be the last registered UK pop-up car, just because it has a later build (chassis) number, doesn't necessarily mean it was the registered in the UK after 'older' cars.

Looks like the one that appeared forsale last year.
It went very quickly for a very reasonable price, IIRC.
The new owner seems more interested in NSXPrime than this website.....
