ps if anyone questions the fact that the plate was sold in 1996 for £17,500 just tell them to look at www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk and do a search in previous auctions as it is listed there with proof.

I know that when Derek first bought the plate that's what he paid for it, and I'm not questioning that (although I do question the sanity of spending £100k modifying an NSX and then getting bored and starting again with a Ferrari, but that's another story).

I also know that when Dale bought the plate and a bunch of Mugen parts from Derek he got them for a song.

and when Dale offered it in turn to me and I turned it down he let it go with the car when he sold it to Amjad.

the plate is worth what someone will pay - it has been on various registration dealers websites for a couple of years now at silly money (was at £60k at one time :roll: )

I for one will be interested to see what it fetches this time around.

(just general interest - I don't need a number plate)

It just isn't worth that sort of money to anyone anymore. Maybe if Honda brought out an all new V10 400+bhp car that was the car to have in 2007 it would be worth something.

But how big is the market - how many NSXs were ever sold here?

Dreaming! I can't imagine anyone paying that for the plate. Most people don't even know what an NSX is!

If you had a Ferrari F430 and the plate to match then yes it would be worth a bomb but its all relative. I picked my car up for a lot less than the plate is advertised for!!!! :shock:

For 25K you could have several bits of interesting machinery to add to your garage - how about a serviceable Bentley Turbo R plus an Elise? And some change for Bentley fuel...

(Insert further choice of wheels + 2nd further choice of wheels etc etc)

Could think of just about anything else really.

Maybe just jealous at the concept of someone being able to spend 25K on a vanity plate! :(

It is a lot of money but like anything else it is only worth what someone is willing to pay. If I won the lottery and bought an 02 plus type -R ( two just to be greedy :D ) I would not mind paying that sort of money for that plate, after all is four characters.

In the real world, I would spend that sort of money on plenty of Procar, Gruppe M and Mugen parts, plus an 02 refresh for the car.
