decoding a JDM chassis number

can anyone out there tell me the production date of my car from the JDM chassis number? i'd like to try and pin it down, as every year they try to test the MOT emissions on it's import date, rather than the declared date of manufacture on the log book.... and seems mine may be earlier than that!!

they also tried to test my dads 1960 Daimler Dart on it's 2000 import date!

It's a JDM vin, not the now common 17 digit code that can easily be deciphered.... Otherwise I would have!!! Only found one online decoder that recognises the na1-100xxxx style, and that gave 'not known' as the year!!! Every time I go for MOT it tries to test it as a 1998 as that's when it was first reg'd in UK.... It's declared a 1992, and there's 2 emissions specs for 92, pre or post August... But convo on a fb page suggests it might be earlier anyway...

What is the first 3 digits of your JDM VIN after the NA1-?
The *** section of the VIN format of NA1-***+++++++++ ?

Same question for the ENG no..
What is the first 3 digits of your ENG no. after the C30A-?
The ??? section of the ENG no. format of C30A-???+++++++++ ?

So, it's NA1-100type and based on the extra info I received and also the sale history for 1990 and 1991, I'm 99.9% sure it's some point in 92 and before Feb/93.

Needs further info especially any documents in Japanese to pin point which month in 92.

Didn't the NA1 110-series commence in November 1992, with the introduction of the Type R?
I know that this doesn't necessarily help with Jon's auto, as AT engined cars seem to follow a different numbering series / schedule to the MT cars.

For the NA1 Type-R, yes but with different Eng series and hence, the reason for asking the Eng No.
For the standard model, it stayed as NA1-100type until just before Feb/93.

Because it involves VIN, there are several things discussed outside of this forum :) and interestingly, what you mentioned was covered in the discussion.

It's also the same timing when A/C was switched to R134a spec on NSX so if the Type-R owners selected the optional A/C, it would be R134a.

For the standard model, NA1-110type became available only after Feb/93 until the introduction of the NA1-120type from Feb/94, the model that I placed the order and still had to wait for few months for the delivery.
Far better than over 12 months in early days.

The transmission type doesn't alter the VIN format.
Just the build spec within the parts system and not the VIN.
