Spent a enjoyable day at the Speed Trials last weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see this owner taking his NSX down the strip. Didn’t win but was he out there giving it some with all its hybrid power! Not all show queens then.

Were you able to speak to them or recall the v-max achieved?

Yes, he’d had the NSX just over a year moving on from a GTR, if I remember, and was really enjoying the car. He had two qualifying runs, I thought the car wasn’t as quick off the line as I expected, however this was probably due to seeing the launch of the cars built to win overall. I recorded one of the NSX runs at 101mph at 14.something secs. The winner, a highly tuned twin turbo 1300hp R8 set a new all time record of 8.99secs at 164.4 mph, very brave driver!
I didn’t realise how rough and uneven the strip is, veteran drivers were definitely threading a route to avoid the worst of it. Bikes didn’t run due to risks caused by the amount of road marking paint used by the local council.
