Car Bra, anyone thought about one ??

I have just managed to acquire 2 so will look at putting one on soon.

Has anyone else this side of the pond got one and how was the fit ??

Car bra's - Nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

Whilst I have never used one (so my views are posted from a position of ignorance) I must say I both hate the look of cars wearing them and worry that they actually do more harm than good.

Whilst I have no doubt they stop stone chips from the vulnerable front end, I wonder how much damage they do to the paintwork. Small particles of grit / dust will inevitably accumulate and lodge between the bra and the car. Just as inevitable will be some degree of bra movement , especially at speed. This will cause chaffing and damage to the paint surface.

Yes, I will be thoroughly cleaning and waxing the front end before I even attempt to install it.

Not even sure if they have a licence plate cut out or not ??

I would be wary of driving over certain speeds with the car bra installed. Imagine it flying off and taking a biker off the road? I admit that that is a far fetched sceneraio, but if corvettes roofs go flying anything can happen!

If you want to protect against stone chips, go the Armourfend route IMO. I had this installed on my 04 S2k. 1yr and 20k miles later, paint was still as new, the protective film having done its job brilliantly.

I would assume that the shops should be able to tailor it to the car the same as window tinting film.

Anybody know roughly how much its likely to cost?

Also, excuse my ignorance. How is the Armourfend film different to the "bra's" being discussed in this thread?

HI Martin,

'What it is' you can see from the link Simon put up. Cost will depend on how much of the NSX you decide to protect.

When I had the S2k protected it was the first 04 model so they used my car to make the template! I had the front valance and bumper, leading edge of the bonnet (about 8" from front lip) and the leading part of the front wings. Total price was £320 and worth every penny. On the darker colours it is very hard to see. Maintenance is the same as the rest of the car, wash'n'wax.
