HI All,

After all the sillyness form some posts today, on to a serious question.
The Nav Pod that is availiable, can anyone tell me if it is 2 DIN size?
Basicly I'm thinking of this Nav unit:

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/10/20/241/AVIC-HD1BT/index.html

which is a double dIN in dash fit, and I was wondering if the Nav Pod would take it.

Cheers

Hi Jim

I have had the Nav Pod fitted to my NSX by Sextons in Southampton.

Unfortunately I don't know if the screen is 2 DIN but I can tell you it is a 7 inch screen if that helps?...sorry I'm not very technical.

If you ring them they will be able to tell you as they have fitted a few nav pods to NSXs already.

Thanks Martin,

I'll drop them an e-mail, that piece of kit I'm after isn't cheap so it's down the priority line, but thanks for the info.
Do you have the phone number, I don't see the Southampton branch on the website?

Jim,

My wife has the AVIC-X1BT in her car, and it comes highly recomended.

I understand the AVIC-HD1BT is even better due to it having it's own hard drive rather than having to read off the disc all the time.

Can anyone enlighten me as to how the NAV system works or how to 'plumb' one in....

I'm assuming the nav screen is fixed in, din lead to boot changer with NAV software disc, GPS receiver connected somehow. Touch screen controls everything?

Just had my nav pod fitted, with a 6.5" TS Alpine screen (7" would have fitted better)+ the Alpine nav system.
Here's a pic with my new polished cluster rings (courtesy of a great transaction with Detlef) also fitted.

Hi Dave

Looks great.

Do you know how that sat nav unit compares with typical tomtom units?

Also what is the make and model of the sat nav unit?

I have the pod installed in my NSX, with a 7 inch screen, hooked up to a dvd player.

Was also thinking of installing freeview television in the car towards the end of 2007, when better receivers are predicted to be on the market.

..but I am also curious about sat nav. I currently have tomtom software on my mobile phone which works well. But the idea of having sat nav built into the NSX appeals to me.

Your help and opinions appreciated!

Cheers

Sorry Martin, I can't give you the details of the unit at the moment as it was fitted on a flying visit to the UK, and I don't know what the model number is.
Anyway for the short time I did get to use it, it does seem to work pretty well and is very user friendly, either using the touch screen or the remote supplied. It also covers all of Europe, which hopefully I will get to check out if the NSX Euro-tour on Prime goes ahead.
If you have the pod fitted already it's got to be more convenient than also having a Tom-Tom or whatever roaming around your dash aswell, mines also rigged up to a DVD just for an extra distraction.

Had to hunt for this old thread again, rather than starting a new one, but does anyone know the answer if these pods take a double din fitment or not?

Yeah yeah I know I am just being lazy, but someone must know.

Jim,

From the shape of the pods I would guess they wil only take the screen and not a full unit. That would need to be remotely installed or replace the OEM stereo using some crafting of the console or a replacement console. If you go the latter route of changing the console, SOS offer a double DIN bracket that Lankstar is thinking of buying

the best fitting to navipod i think 8" screen .
search something from Alpine or Dynamix monitors i think it's good way.;)
if want double din maybe see something like : Kenwood DNX5120 or Kenwood DDX-6019 or more brands its up to you what options you want to have ;)
