How do you lift the front wipers to clean or replace them?

Me - kidding... always!!
Lifdt the bonnet up and just be really careful - if you want to change tha wipers it's an arse but you shouldbe able to lift them enough to satisfy your fetish.

How do you lift the bonnet up? I'm not very mechanical

Turn ignition on, turn wipers on.....when wipers pointing vertical, switch ignition off. Wipers will now be in a position to be lifted from the screen without touching the bonnet.
Does that help you?

On my '93 if you give the wiper lever a really quick flick ( even quicker than if you wanted the blades to do a single sweep ) then they park about 5cm short of ( above ) their usual position and so the blades can be lifted with ease.
If you hold the lever for any "reasonable" length of time ( anything over a millisecond ) they park in the right place :-)
Works every time so I even considered the possibilty that it might have been deliberate!

Thought I'd resurrect an old thread.
Just got my new girl home (to reference the other thread, she's already a she, despite that gruff tone she takes when stretching her legs! ;) ), was giving her a wash to get rid of all that M-way grime, and realised I couldn't lift the wipers...
...so I do what we do with the wife's Golf, which is as per above. Except even then they won't lift more than ~3-4in clear - the pivot near the base on mine won't lift properly up! Have I got dodgy wipers, or does everyone have this problem?!?
(And if so, how do the cleaning fetishists on here cope?!? :D )

Havoc this is the way to go about it.

Havoc this is the way to go about it.
Which they can be, but only 3 or 4in clear, so they don't STAY up like all the other cars I've had...which is why I'm confused!

That's just the way they are I'm afraid.

NSXGB method is the best. But personally for me to do this correctly without damaging anything or putting presssure on the wiper arms, I just remove them.
