Hi,

does anyone have any advice on the best way to improve the action of the electric windows on a 1993 UK NSX. The left side on is noisey and a bit jerky, seems like it needs some grease but I guess some part of the mechanism could also be a bit bent. The drivers side is not so bad.

Also how accessable are they, I replaced a speaker in the passenger door a while back and don't recall it being particularly easy to access.

Many thanks.

Quite tricky to get to the mechanism and the parts that need to be greased. have a look in the FAQ on www.nsxprime.com (http://www.nsxprime.com) for some very good info on this subject.

The first thing I have always found is to get some spray silicon lubricant on the window rubbers, that can turn a dodgy window back to a good one.

do you recommend any particular brand Simon? and can it be used to refresh the seals around the windscreens?

grease the runners, and grease them now, before the lift wire fixing thingy breaks!!!!! the glass doesn't run it the rubbers as with normal windows, there are 2 large runners inside the door, about 3 inches in from the glass edges. grease these and they'll slide up and down smooth as silk!

So I got the Honda grease and parts from Dali and did this today.

Turns out I already have the improved part with the metal casing, at least on the passenger door. If anyone needs these parts let me know.

I greased the main central runner but it doesn't appear to have improved it that much, it still clonks at the top and seem to struggle when putting the window up.

Which bits do I need to grease? I can see two metal support on the edges of the window but cannot picture where I need to put the grease.

Many thanks

One test I would do is try the window with the door open, if it is smoother then the areas that need greasing are the ones on the car itself, if not then the rubber at the base of the window.

Alternatively maybe time for a new motor.

only tried it with the door, open and it's jerky.

A new motor, do they wear out so they struggle, or just fail? I had the same thing on my old merc, ordered the whole scissor mechanism and motor as it had got bent from the years of strain, and this fixed it. I can't remeber if I put the new motor in for the hell of it while I was doing it though.

Both my windows are pretty slow, the drivers side being the worst, but I haven't got round to looking at them yet, but it's pretty high up on my "to-do" list.

OK. I've read the service manual.

Do I need to remove the front and rear glass guides from the door to grease them, or is there an easier way to do it?

Thanks

Do I need to remove the runners from the window to grease them properly, or is there another way?

Thanks
