Well it's finally back with me! The refurbishment grew like Topsy but I'm glad that I got everything done!. Big thanks to Plans (Graham/ John) and CTS (Stuart/ Bernie) for sorting it out.
This is what I had done :-)
new clutch as the old one was slipping (the £300 one from ebay that several others very decently didn't bid against me on)
while the gearbox was out, sent it off to CTS to replace upper transmission housing to prevent future snap ring issues (part £500 from Dali), and also fettle some bearings and 5th gear synchros which were grinding a bit - it's now perfect.
refurbished brake calipers and wheels
fitted new tyres (OEM A022's sourced from Dali, made end of 2004 acording to the side wall code so not that old and the last batch available I reckon). Too soon to really comment on the feel as they are bedding in but so far they feel good to me.
alignment
redid the previously badly resprayed wing, door and bonnet (with blending ended up as pretty much a front end repray which took care of the stone chips as well!)
---------------------------------------------------------------
I fitted a new bass amp yesterday (from Dirk) to replace the blown old one (fiddly as hell getting the enclosure apart!), so the stereo is now as it should be (still rubbish compared to the JBL OEM one in my 406 coupe mind!)
I previously replaced the 4 gas struts (Dali again), claybar'd it and polished it with Megiaur's 3 stage.
Still have to do the Gliptone leather thing on my driver's seat (and fit the iPOD adaptor), but that apart the car now looks and feels amazing.
So a big job sure, but absolutely worth it to see the NSX restored to its original condition.
And if anyone else has synchro problems (I believe that someone else reported graunching into 5th gear which was my symptom), I would thoroughly recommend getting CTS to look at your box (especially if you're having a clutch done) as it doesn't cost that much and you will be amazed at the difference, and of course you already know about Plans.
Now time to drive it!
Robin
