View Full Version : New wheels for the NSX-R

I have decided to go 17"/17" to help achieve the best balance and also for the ease of finding tyres.

Now to narrow down the wheel choice.

Volks- TE 37

Prodrive GC-06F

Prodrive GC-05F

Any ideas or comments on the choice?

Color will either be Bronze of Graphite.

Cheers,

I like the TE 37's but they're the obvious choice IMO. The GC06's look almost identical to the 37's.

Have you tried here?

I like the Enkei NT03M but I think they are hard to source with the right offset.
The Advan Sienna is also a good looking rim.

I guess it depends whether you want straight spokes or something more like the type S wheels.
I have the Volks GTU's which also come in a sober polished alloy or mercury silver!
The GTV's also work well on the NSX.

There are so many............Cheers, James.

Cheers for the links James.

I must admit that I love the old school look of the mesh type wheels, but they are a real pain to keep clean specially when using non OEM performance pads.

I am alsmost sure of going with one of these three. What I like about the prodrives is that you do not see them that much on NSX's.

Now on to the colour!

I like the Volks- TE 37, and I think the bronze would look good with your body colour.

Hi Ary,

Good to see you back in positive NSX mode and trust the decorating is going well.

So why have I asked the above question you may be thinking? Well its all about helping you with the wheel decision you've posed.

Is it wheels and stop for the Type R? If it is then lets decide what looks good against your car as it is today. If however you're going the 02 route fairly soon, then lets consider the wheels that look right on the 02 with its more rounded overall appearance.

There are many too choose from but for me, high in the decision process would be maintenance, ie, how easy to keep looking clean. That will steer you to generally to a a solid spoke design, usually of 5 spoke variety.

I've attached a few photo's plus a link. Check out SOS who were offering great deals recently on Volks and Works. Also, if still available, Detlef has a stuning set of 17/18 rims for sale that would look superb on your R!

Hope this helps

Regards, Paul

Hi Paul,

Well I wont mention the decorating!

As to the car, yes it will hopefully be done as an 02 project by the end of this summer.

I was watching a video of Drift King NSX-R and his Prodrive GC-06 wheels looked great. I want to stay with 215 and 255 as I like the combo well.

I like the AVS model five wheels on the picture, but they look too much like the Porsche Turbo for my liking.

Clean looking wheel, can you get with polished lip? If yes then I would either co-ordinate the centre spokes to your NSX or finish in dark grey, but IMO, lighter than your current BBS.

BTW, why is your name not on the Japfest list?

Paul,

I was thinking of solid graphite or soild silver:

About Japfest,

Work commitments and a half finished project car will prevent me from going.

BTW My BBS are no longer with me they have another more fitting home :)!

Now that's the cleanest NSX with the most fitting wheels I've seen. Not too bling and looks the part spot on!!

It is nice, but I think I'd pass on the teak decking interior :-)

Do you think that having a front 17" wheel will make it easier to find tyres? There isn't much choice for a 215/40/17.

Goodyear GSD3 and Toyo T1-R maybe. Anything else?

I'm looking for road going track tyres if possible.

Kevin there is more choice than in the OEM 16" :)!

I think that for the most if one wants specialist tyres one should look at importing them.

BTW Kevin did you ever find the bolts for the harness bar we PM about. I am really looking forward to having that installed when the car is back on the roads.

Hi Ary,

I think its the 06 that have the lip. The 05's in the photo, spot on design! Silver will look good, the graphite will depend on how dark. too Dark and you will loose the beauty of the design IMO.

Shame work could'nt be co-ordinated, will have to meet up soon

Let me guess, the BBS are on the S2k??

Paul the BBS have a new owner, and I hope he put them on his NSX. My cousin wanted them for the S2K but in the end they belong on an NSX.
