Hello,
I'm looking to buy an NSX for about £15-£22k. Ideally a UK car, non-auto, obviously in good condition with FHsh (not insurance write-off etc) and a reasonable number of miles. Colour not that important, but I'd prefer red or silver.
I've kept an eye on autotrader etc and there's a few about... I was wondering if anyone out there is considering selling?
Thanks in anticipation,
Matt

IMHO You will need to spend at least 20k on a manual or you will end up spending a lot more putting it right. The autos tend to fetch 2-3k less.

My m8 has a Silver Auto for sale. I think he's looking at around 16K for it (which as you know is very cheap) The car is beautiful and drives excellent. I think its done about 65k miles and its a 1992 I think?
His name is Gareth anyway and you can mail him direct on grecsys@aol.com if your interested
Thanks

mate. be careful re the above offer. i bought a car off the same guy, believing it to be a good 'un - it wasn't.
he's basically a dealer and not a particularly truthful one - just wouldn't want someone else to get suckered in.

Thanks for that. Looking back over previous posts I have seen that certain people 'may consider' selling their cars quite frequently. Always rings alarm bells!
Just looking at Autotrader, it's obvious that there's quite a lot of NSX's with dodgy histories, colours, wheels and damage for sale. A particular company, named after the closest planet to the sun, seems to specialise in this area!
Thanks again,
Matt

It's quite simple. You get what you pay for.
Hence from your requirements and price range you first posted, you had a few answers that you will be at least spending your upper limit.

Quite. I spent a little while looking around before I bought my car and whilst I wasn't interested in sub £20k cars I couldn't but notice during my research that all of the cars in that price bracket seemed to display some or all of the following:
Old
High mileage
LHD
Auto
"undesirable" Colour scheme
Modified (particularly wheels)
Questionable history
As Kevin says, you get what you pay for. I was very lucky to find a lovely example with exactly the spec I wanted at the right price - I'd definately try to stretch to the top end of your budget to get a good example that won't hide any nasty surprises. One things for sure - if you DO find a good one, you'll never regret it. Wonderful cars

I don't agree that you always get what you pay for.. From reading past posts there unfortunately seems to be quite a few unlucky people who have got far less than they paid for - they were misled by unscrupulous sellers/dealers.
I think it's fair to say that if you shop around properly and really research the car that you're interested in (and that includes using this excellent resource) you can make it more likely that you will get what you pay for. I've looked into some NSX's, that were on the face of it well priced good cars, however upon digging around (including 'phoning garages to check that work that was advertised as being done was actually done) I've found some NSX's that are real traps for the unwary. If I'd bought one of these I certainly wouldn't have got what I'd paid for.
Fortunately I've found a nice 1991 car with 42k (one millionaire lady owner - true!) for about £23k. I'm just awaiting verification of the FSH.... so hopefully by next week, she'll be mine (the car, not the lady owner!)
