Hey, my blower has stopped working (sods law, as it's getting cold..). Any of you guys know any good mechanics out there which can deal with electrical issues relating to the nsx? I have this strange feeling that a Honda dealership will charge an arm and a leg for it... Thanks

1st thing to do is search for auto electricians in your area

....try a search on www.nsxprime.com for "leaky caps"....I suspect you will get all the info you require.

My climate control board has (I am suspecting) got a leaky capacitor, causing it to completely shut down every now and again. Instead of buying a new board from Honda for £800, you can buy a whole set of capacitors (14) from Maplins for £1.53. If you are a dab hand at soldering you can swap them yourself or get an electrical specialist to replace them for you, saving a packet.

I have not attempted the fix myself yet as I'm waiting for Maplins to deliver, but I would be interested if anyone out there has had any experience of this fix to comment.

cool. sounds like i've got to replace my capacitors as well then..

don't suppose you have the part numbers for maplin? or did u just go by the tecnhical specs (ohms etc...)?

thanks.

As far as I can gather, you need:

2 x 330uF PN: VH45
2 x 22uF PN: VH28
1 x 0.47uF PN: KQ61
6 x 47uF PN: VH34
1 x 3.3uF PN: AU04
2 x 100uF PN: VH39

That will give you all 14.

That will cost you £4.04 inc delivery, a monumental saving if it means you don't need to buy a whole new board.

Good luck.

On first inspection of the circut board for my climate control unit, capacitors C44 and C32 were both faulty and therefore, i've replaced them. I pluged the system back in but my fan is still not working, although the a/c, vent, circulation etc.. buttons are working fine.

Subsequently, I've replaced the rest of the capacitors but the system is not working. I'm fairly certain that it is the circut board which is at fault rather than the blower motor.

NSXGB - have you got any suggestions? Where are you at with yours? I've been trying to locate an electronics engineer in london as with the right equipment (voltmeter and oscillator), he'll be able to pin point the electronics parts at fault - the problem is, i can't seem to find anyone!

vic,

From what I have read on Prime, they also mention a transistor that can also give up. Posts that I have read on there with the transistor problem are generally to do with the fan staying on full. I'd say that there is a good chance of that being something to do with your problem.

I have not had a chance to take mine out yet....hopefully this week. I take it you fixed yours up, did you use the Maplin components listed above?

If you still have a problem after replacing the transistor, another option may be to buy an echange board from Dali, I think that they are around $150.

Good luck.

...got round to doing mine the other day, changed the caps, plugged unit back....nothing, unit totally dead.

Gave it to an expert who identified that where two of the caps had leaked on the board, they had corroded a couple of the tracks (even though they looked fine). A fine repair job was carried out by him and the unit is installed and working fine. Job done for under £50.

The fix also cured another intermittant fault where my blower would not divert air to the screen or center vent when it should.

A couple of tips if you are taking the job on yourself:

1. Use de-solder braid instead of a solder sucker.

2. If the black residue that has leaked out of the faulty cap does not simply wipe clean off the board, it's worth getting the tracks double checked by a pro.

3. When de-soldering you should not have to use any force to remove the component legs, being over zealous could mean that you will break the copper pad that lines the hole and connects the track from top to bottom.

If you have any doubts give it to a pro, it's not a tough job for them, they have all the gear and for what you will get charged it's not worth the hassle. I got a bloke from a TV repair shop to do mine.

Hope that helps,

Simon.
