Hi all,

I just joined this forum, I have a 91 NSX that I have had owned for the last 15 years. It's been stood up for the last 5 years and has been a bit neglected :embarassed:. I've decided to restore her to her former glory and am just about to go and look at her, hopefully resplendent in her new paint job (original formula red). :proud:

I'll be looking to get some mechanical servicing and upgrades done next, so will drop by regularly to ask advice. Hopefully meet up when she's all done. She deserves to be pampered never let me down once in the 10 years I drove her every day.

Welcome. I too have a '91 red but only got it last year. Fancy leaving it idle for 5 years - how did you manage to resist driving it?

Welcome to this band of many lunatics ( prob the best way to describe the majority!!)
Stood up for 5 years?? that's a long time. What area are you in, speaking from personal experience, there is a weatlh off knowledge from the members on this site, and a lot that are always willing to give a hand with anything.

Cheers

Jim

Wow, you must of owned it from new.

I wonder how many other NSXs are around just sitting quietly, and not member of this wonderful club.

Can you make it to Castle Coombe this Saturday? Whether in NSX or not. Seeing all our cars there, should gee you up into getting your car running.

Hi and welcome to the club or mad house (not really). Nice to hear you going to rejuvenate your X again, maybe add a couple of side bolts (like Frankenstein)! When you do get it road ready, maybe you might do more than the 1000 or so miles that I do in mine!! All the members here would be glad to give you help & advise as required. Do you own a RS4 & a X too? :):pleased:

Welcome.

Would be great if you could make it to Japfest?

Sounds like a great project.

I hope you do a more honest job that a car a few of us recently saw that had been professionally restored.

I guess you drive an RS4 at the moment then ??

Thanks all for making me welcome. I went to see the car today the guy has made a fantastic job of the repray, it looks great. Next job is to book it in for a major mechanical check over, my local Honda dealer recommended Honda in Welwyn Garden. Think I'd prefer to take it to a specialist so I can discuss some upgrades, any recommendations?

I have to rearrange a few things but I'd love to come on Saturday, not many opportunities to see so many NSX's in one place.

BTW, yeah my everyday car is the RS4 and I am lucky enough to own a AM V8 Vantage.

Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. if u need someone to keep the car nicely ticking over instead of sitting idle ill gladly oblige.

Daily runs out and oil feeds just like a pet dog is no problem.. :D

Must be hard to give he the attention she needs when u ahve other cars to run;)

Depending on what you are considering upgrading then Norton Way Honda will probably help you out anyway. You might be better off buying parts from the US with the $$ the way it is.

Check out either Dali Racing http://www.daliracing.com/v666-5/catalog/index.cfm?use=NSX or SOS http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/NSX/

If you are looking for serious suspension changes etc then either Chris Franklin at http://www.centergravity.co.uk/ or speak to Plans Motorsport at Dunsfold Park http://www.plansmotorsport.com/

Give us an idea of what you are looking at and we might be able to help more.

, any recommendations?

I cant recommend Norton Way highly enough, ask for Brian and establish where you are at with the mechanicals. SOS have great things and the dollar is weak right now. Plans have a depth of NSX knowledge and dont forget you can always ask in here for several opposing opinions!

Hi Kevin and welcome!

How did you find the forum? I'm sure there are many more NSX owners unaware of the community within this forum. As said above, there is a wealth of knowledge available, you have only to ask and someone will surely be able to help.

I can highly recommend Norton Way at Letchworth. Brian, the Service Manager, has been working on NSX for as long as you've owned yours so there really isn't anything he doesn't know about them. Dont forget to ask for your free loan car when your NSX is being serviced.

As for upgrades, there are many choices and much experience of these available here. Plans Motorsport http://www.plansmotorsport.com/ are becoming more frequently used by owners for upgrade work and service work. For help at Plans, speak to Graham who used to run a highly modified NSX of his own for a while.

Hope to see you on Saturday and bagsy a passenger ride in the Aston ;)

regards, Paul

I don't know what your local Honda dealer is saying but there is NO Honda dealer in Welwyn Garden.

There is Brayley Honda, nearby but they are classed as St Albans. DO NOT take your NSX there. They are not NSX approved, and there have been some unfavourable reports of them.

DO take your car to Norton Way Honda in Letchworth. Maybe the confusion comes from the fact that Letchworth is also a Garden City. Norton Way look after my car, and they have been NSX approved since the start. Bryan has been working on NSXs since they came out.

Brayley Honda have been known to sell NSX's in the past, however as far as I know will not work on them as they don't have the facilities. I have spoken with Paul Brayley a few times on this and am pretty sure this is still the case.

Sorry guys I got confused it is Norton Honda in Letchworth. Glad to hear the positive comments. I found this site through a link in pistonheads forum. Hopefully meet some of you on Saturday.

Like the others, I don't know how you could go so long without driving the NSX, RS4 or not. I've had my 1997 NSX for seven years and can't go more than a few days without driving it. Just got back from a 1600 mile trip from Wales to Scotland - great roads in the Highlands and Islands; perfect NSX country. In a few weeks we're off for our annual four week trip around Europe. The car's got 77k on the clock now and rising rapidly since I retired and decided to see more of the UK and Europe, but it's serviced regularly and is running perfectly. Can't see me ever changing it, unless it's for another one!

See you all tomorrow.

Ken
