92k and sweet as a nut!

PS . . . only just changed my suspension settings back from bone breaking track bias (Bedford Autodrome day) to normal everyday supercar (comfy!) setting. This Nitron stuff really is superb!

Around 100600 at the moment and counting. How many of you high mile club members have changed the harmonic balancer. I planned to do mine last September, but it was backordered. The Honda technician said it looked OK and that he only had one car in for that part in 15 years! Still I plan on getting it done sooner rather than later.

Harmonic Balancers? Enlightment required please! Are they similar to Shaft balancers?

Still less than 65k at the moment, so around 6k a year average.

Yeah, guess that must be balancer shafts.. easier to just take them out i imagine?

Are you part of the Club? If so how does it drive at that mileage?

No the NSX engine is balanced. It is a rubber filled pulley that absorbs high rpm vibrations. A few have come apart with the rubber piece rubbing off the TB cober and sometimes the TB leading to a FUBAR engine.

 That pic in Prime look potentially a big money problem if it breaks, what does the service book state about the intervals for this? Ary, have you been given a quote for parts and labour yet? Oh on the subject of mileage I'm in the late 38Ks now!

Part is about £ 150 from Barry and it's and hours labour rate. So rather safe than sorry!

Just rejoined, so will find out. It's never let them down at all, but ate clutches so upgraded (SoS/Dali provided - forget which). According to their mechanic, mine does feel a bit tighter than theirs - no surprise - but otherwise she's fine, given it does lead a pretty hard life....

The SM stated nothing about changing it because it was not supposed to fail in any way. Most of the cars with a failed harmonic balancer pulley were track rats and higher mileage. The bad thing is that you don't recognize it at first. A guy on prime has a fix for this.
I'll change mine as soon as the TB has to be changed (max. two years from now). Till then I'll have an eye on it periodically.

What's the 0-60 or the 0-100 time now?

Getting back to the harmonic balancer thingy.. ANYONE interested in a GRIUP BUY? seems enough of us over 80k.

and also this thread on prime could be a simpler solution?

Yep, I would be interested.

Group buy on water pumps at the same time might be a good idea as well.

I intend to combine replacing the harmonic balancer and the water pump with my cambelt change to make life a little more easy ! :)

As tight as when I took delivery 3 years, and about 63,000 miles ago:)
I've had a few small component failures, (latest was the door handle thingy) but otherwise have religiously kept it serviced by Norton Way and only used OEM parts.
I love this car and really cant ever see me selling "her"

I'm in the fortunate position to be able to chose a new company car in 08 (considering a new Jag XF) which will allow me to keep some of the mileage off the NSX. So she's moving into semi retirement in the new year, although I think it will still be 10,000 miles PA, as I just love this car!

Good question, how do you accurately check this? Fancy a burn up;)

I can't say I can tell if it's any different now, from when I first had her.
