How do you take off the gearknob?

Basic I know but i have more strength then sense and I don't want to wreck anything.

so, help appreciated

First of all you have to unclip the shift boot. Near the to of it is a hard ring, press front and back and pull down. It should slide down the shift stalk. Then just twist off the knob.

BTW if you do not use the oem knob the boot will slide down unless cable tied on the inside.
