Guys,
Can the S2K 17" alloys fit the NSX?

Well from a quick bit of research they both have the same PCD and number of studs. Might work. Not sure what it will do for the offset etc . . .
I'm not technical enough!

I know Simon has 'sat' his on his S2K wheels so best PM'ing him, I don't think her drove it with them on though from memory....

From memory the front bore is a different size.
All NSX wheels will fit on an S2000 (hubcentric spacer for front), but I think S2000 wheels won't fit on an NSX.
I only ever put 1 rear on to sit the car in the garage when I had a puncture.

I don't get it :dunno: If NSX wheels fit the S2000 then why won't the S2000 wheels fit the NSX? The PCD of the lugs on the wheel hub of the S2000 would have to be identical to the PCD of the holes found on the NSX wheel, QED this should mean that the S2000 wheels will fit on an NSX whell hub.

The bore of the wheel centres is different from memory, I can go and measure when I have time etc but I am sure that is the case. So on an S2000 you put a spacer on to reduce the bore size to ensure the wheels allign correctly. You would get vibration otherwise.
You will probably have seen them, they are usually nylon moulded inserts to go in the bore hole.

Stud / bolt size is fine.
The bore on the S2000 front wheels (just measured off a 2000 car) are about 6-8 mm smaller than the NSX (AP2 1997 car) so you would need to bore out that much of the wheel centre. About 62mm against around 70mm (rough plastic ruler)
Looking at the S2000 16" wheels, they don't suit the NSX at all.
I guess the boring of the wheels will be ££'s unless you know someone who can do it.
I am guessing you are looking at the 2004+ wheels which are 17/17 but as far as I know the S2000 hubs are the same across all years so the wheel bore will almost definitely be the same also.
Oh and unless you know where you can get some S2000 wheels, then the 17" ones go for quite a bit.

Another bit of trivia: On an S2000 the front wheels will fit on the rear but the rears will not seat properly on the front. Something I found out during one of those "blonde moments" playing with trackday tyres a few years back.
On an S2000 you are supposed to always put the spacesaver on the front if you have a puncture and shuffle wheels accordingly, I would hope this applies to the NSX but truthfully don't know/remember.

Why on earth would you want to put S2000 wheels on an NSX?
For a finish, they are cast, whereas the NSX's are forged and so are lighter.
The fronts are too narrow (which is why the NSX's lovely forged ones are too wide to fit the S2000). And the backset of the spokes is insufficient for the NSX's fat front calipers.
The offset (the thing the rice boys always get wrong; you align it to the steering axis centre, not the bloody bodywork!) is close enough on either car. Unsurprisingly, since there is a lot of geometrical similarity.
But to stop people messing with stuff they don't understand, Honda (as Simon correctly states) mis-sized the spigot bores to spoil your fun!

Only wondered that's all!! as there are more S2Ks around than NSXs and hence there be more wheels available than the 2002+ wheels. Also the new 17" alloys of the S2K looks good and I hve seen that the front are 225 and the rear are 245 which is better than my current 1991 F15" R16".

Well, it depends how you define 'better'.
The relatively minimal rubber gives the car its delicacy & breakaway progression. It's too much rubber that typifies clumsy German machinery.
The tiny wheels were chosen to reduce unsprung weight, the enemy of good damping.
The later cars are considerably fatter in the aluminium, as well as having fatter torque curves, so the upgrade (partially compensated for by the more expensive, forged wheels) was justified.
Sometimes, less is more!

If you mean the NSX am sure you are correct, but I cannot remember the figures.
The S2000's are all cast, so are substantially heavier:
Stock 16" Front: 17.5 lb
Stock 16" Rear: 18.6
BBS 16" Front: 13.3
BBS 16" Rear: 14.3

Sometimes, less is more!
To be more precise on this, the later cars actually use thinner, stronger aluminium on the panels and are consequently less prone to dings from road debris (97 ish onwards). It is the reinforced areas of the car that were beefed up (hence the increased weight and stronger shell from about 94-95ish?? All bodyshells after a certain point have the extra stiffening that the Targas originally came with.
S2000 17 inch wheels with RE050s are lighter/very close in weight to the 16s with S-02s fitted but neither come close to the 02 onwards NSX wheel I have in the garage

Perfectly true.
The larger engine block & gearbox end case & other general specification upgrades are really what makes the NA2s heavier. IIRC, the bodyshell-in-white is only a few Kgs heavier.
